OWH: Colorado's Deion Sanders has new coordinators, new league, and new one-liners
A tumultuous first season under Deion Sanders — and the subsequent fallout — left Colorado on uneven footing entering 2024.

Sanders made an early splash, famously telling his first spring roster he planned to bring in his own players before major upheaval resulted in a team headlined by his son Shedeur and two-way star Travis Hunter.

And for a moment, it worked. The Buffaloes topped 2022 College Football Playoff runner-up TCU before blowing out Nebraska in the first game of the Sanders era at Folsom Field. They beat Colorado State the next week.

CU would win one game the rest of the season.

CollegeFootballNews: 2024 Colorado Preview

After all of the insanity, hype, and breathless coverage of the phenomenon that was the 2023 Colorado 4-8 football season, one key aspect has been completely ignored.Year One under Deion Sanders wasn't all that bad.Well, sort of. Finishing dead last in the Pac-12 wasn’t a plus, but really … how much fun was THAT?

Yes, things are different under Coach Prime. There’s controversy, and hurt feelings, and player turnover in bunches, and telling tales out of school, and flipping conventional wisdom on its head, and lots of losses, but what if last season was the first year under Coach - pick a random guy name - Chad.

Colorado went 1-11 in 2022. If you told Buffalo fans that Coach Chad, or Coach Mark, or Coach Neal would make the program three wins better in a total gut job rebuild of a season, and with a fun style of play while doing it, the campaign would be considered a big step forward. It won't be easy to make another three-win improvement.

I feel for him. My own shoulder surgery is scheduled for May 13th. I'll only be in a sling for one to two weeks fortunately, but the rehab takes a while. I have a SLAP tear with partial tears to my rotator cuff and labrum. They are also working on a bone spur and have to detach/re-attach my bicep. Sounds like fun, right?

Sadly, I don't think they way I hurt it is nearly as cool as Shiloh, I'm sure. I ate crap outside of MSG while hustling from pre-gaming for a Billy Joel concert, fell face first on the lovely NYC sidewalks. Two homeless dudes were very concerned about me, much more so than my wife who was laughing. But, in her defense, I tend to fall a lot, like, A LOT.

Moral of the story, don't get old people. It sucks.

That is an odd start time for NBC, isn't it?

No.  NBC has the "night game" package for the B1G (FS1 and BTN will also have some too).  They had games on at 6:30 most weeks last year, including the NU/Wisc game.

Now that CBS/SEC are dunzo (ESPN/ABC will have every SEC game), the 3 biggest B1G games each week will pretty much be on at 11:00 on Fox, 2:30 on CBS, and 6:30 on NBC.
