Fire BC - It's Up to Us

Recommended Posts

I've thought BC should be fired from the second he was hired. He and his staff have a history of non-success. He has not only proven to be a poor coach, imo he is of very poor (un-Nebraskan like) character too!

Die-hard Husker coaches (Gill, Kiffin, Sanders) or coaches with true confidence/something to prove (Pelini, Joe Glenn?) would be happy to take the job. If Pedey was gone, coaches interest would go up too.

A good coach gets the most out of his players. It is arguable that BC gets less out of his players than any coach in the country.

1. Led a team to the WORST record in NFL history after appearing in the Superbowl the previous year

2. Led a team to their WORST record in 41 years (1962)

3. Led another team to their WORST record in 42 years

4. Led a team to their WORST loss in the 115 year school history

5. Led a team to their first LOSING season in 42 years

6. His team FAILED to make a bowl game for the first time in 36 years

7. Led an 11-5 team to 4-12.

8. Led a 10-3 team to 5-6. That is 1/2 as good as the fired coach he replaced.

9. Led NU to their first loss to KU in 36 years (second longest streak in the country).

Youre nuts :wtf

He did go to the SUPER BOWL

I would be interested in your take on which assistants.

I think Phil E. will be one of them put on the block. I also think Wagners job should be in question. Maybe Billy C. could take a page out of Frankie's book and fire himself as OC. I don't think he will fire Coz but maybe he could bring in someone else to call the defense and haev Coz just coach the LB's.

Firing BC would send us into a tailspin?  Errrrr.  What is this we're in now?  An initial descent?

Yes, it may hurt initially, but can things get much worse?

IMO, yes they could get worse. See all the colleges where Neuheisel once coached. See Oklahoma State after the great Jimmy J left. See Alabama. See Arizona. Not winning one single game is a lot worse. There are things worse than two consecutive 5 and 6 seasons. However, I'm not sure the University can afford these losses. We don't have a great basketball team. We don't have a lot to draw from. I realize the volleyball team is awesome year in and year out, but year in and year out they typically lose money. Football is our king here just like basketball is king at KU and North Carolina, Duke, etc. We need to have a good team!

However, I'm afraid if we keep BC around for another year he's going to get desperate. Desperate people do things they wouldn't normally do. He may be so desperate that he begins to make deals with recruits (monetary deals) just to get them here. He may get so desperate that the NCAA buries us with probation and ESPN buries us with scandal. Worst case scenario, but a possibility.

I actually am giving Phil E. a pass this year (he is the secondary coach right?). We knew coming in that the secondary was definitely going to be our weakest ling. Most all of our talent and speed opted for the NFL draft rather than returning. We have a converted RB, a true sophomore, and Bowman (isn't he a true frosh.?) back there. Very little experience, and kind of a thrown together group. I agree that the other Bullocks should have left last year as well. He just doesn't seem very inspired.

I agree Wagner should be feeling some heat, but he should have been feeling that since about the 2nd or 3rd game of the year. Our OL is just pathetic at best!

I agree with the assessment that BC should turn over the play calling duties.

I don't think Coz will take a demotion. I think he will leave before he will take being demoted to LB coach. My questin is why he was hired in the first place other than loyalty as they both coached un Alvarez I believe? The fact is Alvarez already alluded that Coz probably would have been let go if he'd stayed at Wisconsin. The new guy they brought in I believe has already been announced as the successor to Alvarez as the HC next season. This shows what Barry thought of Coz.

This whole situation has stunk from the word go. First, according to many, Pud wanted to hire stache as the HC. IMO, he's a lot worse than what we have now. Second, Pud wanted to hire Nutt who I've read will be fired after the end of this year from Arkansas. Third, BC is hired and hires Coz who was likely going to get canned at Wisconsin. Whether you like BC or not, I think he's a pon in this whole debacle. The missteps and f*&kups all began with the AD. I say after the end of the season: CAN PUD and give BC another year to prove his worthiness. If we go 10 and 3 next year, don't go fire the guy and make the same mistake we did last time! Just my 2 cents worth.

I have supported BC and staff for a long time, but this lose is really making me think twice. I agree with some I have to accept one more year but the staff has to come to face of how they are preparing for a game. It just is an embarressment to husker fans. Maby the media is right and us husker fans are wishing for something that may be out of reach. I dont want to think this but each week it sure looks like it. :steam:steam:steam:steam:steam

Funny, on this board people were saying how good the secondary would be because the malcontents and quitters were all gone. Yeah, NFL millionaires.

Wont happen. billy c. is too stubborn and conceited to admit defeat (see Oakland). He needs to prove how good HE is (4-12,5-6, 70-10??)

See above, too stubborn. He sucks, see ya. Too bad old college roomates get in the way of the success of the program :steam

:yeah pud butchered this one from the get-go. Never had a good coach in mind. I used to think that "porn-stache" was a worse coach than billy c., but once they went head to head, it was a tossup. pud sucks, too :rickjames

I've posted this elsewhere, but that was before I saw this thread!

My God! How pathetic do you want our Husker Nation to look? Yeah, we look pathetic right now, but everyone around the country already makes fun of us for firing Solich in the first place. Let's be honest with ourselves, Solich came in, took a strong TO team, and started making Nebraska look like a joke. Should we have fired him? No. Absolutely not. Yet, at least his program was a rapidly declining team. Solich was unable to recruit solid players to come play even HIS style of offense, whereas at least Callahan is improving this aspect of the team. Even after the last several games, Callahan is improving this team. Yes, it is a new system, and yes, sometimes it looks like we are having monkeys writing the play calls, but give it time (as I am sure many of you hate hearing ... again). We, the fans, often like to think of ourselves as knowing everything there is to know about our team, and that we know how our program should be run, but let's face it: none of us know what is going on better than the coaches. It is really easy for us to sit in our "Ivory Towers" and complain about what is going on in our Husker Nation, but ultimately we A ) have no real tangible power to change it, and B ) no real knowledge of the situation. I know at this point it sounds silly to ask people to just trust in the system, but the system is brand new and we aren't even giving it a chance. Heck, when America was first created we had to go through some changes to our Democracy until we found the right system. Right know, we are transferring power from the Monarchy to the Democracy, otherwise known as the I-Formation O to the WCO, and we'll have to re-write the Articles of Confederation to be the Constitution before we can truly see the system come to life. Let Callahan re-write the mode of play, and the mentality of the people. 'Cause let's face it folks, all of this constant nay saying is not going to help our players, nor our coaches. Every week, even when we win, Callahan feels like he has to defend certain aspects of his coaching in order to appease the hunger Husker fan base. We pride ourselves on being the best fans in College ball, but recently, I haven't seen many fans sticking with OUR team. We are supposed to be the shining example of what makes a college football fan, but all of the negativity lobbed towards Callahan and the rest of the coaches only proves that we are elitists who don't deserve the title of fan. Some people who post on this board who come out and proudly declare themselves fair-weather fans aren't the fans that we should want to represent. I for one do not cheer for the Huskers because of their dominance in past years, I cheer for them because I am a Huskers fan, and always will be. I am proud to say that after attending the KU game and watching some fans start to leave at the start of the fourth quarter, there were many, many more fans that stood by their team even though there was no hope of victory. These are the fans that I think should be represented. These are the fans that matter so much to this program and will ensure that our team will rise again. To those of you who are calling for Callahan's head: you are not going to help your team. This will not bring back power to the Nebraska football tradition. All you will succeed in doing is ensuring that the Nebraska fan base is ridiculed for once again for not being patient enough to see something through to the end. Please, please stop harming your football program, and start finding other things to bash. Try Hollywood, or the Government, just leave college kids who are trying their best out of it. They are more upset that we are playing poorly than you will ever be. Stop rubbing salt into their wounds. Thank you for your time. Let's be prepared for happier times ahead! GO HUSKERS!!!
