I'll be a lot of people have had spaetzle (#90) without realizing it. I mean, about half the people in Nebraska have German ancestry. And spaetzle is a staple of German cuisine.

Not sure. But they are real thick noodles. In Bavaria they slather gravy over the top, and man it is goood. Then again, in Bavaria they slather gravy on nearly everything. :lol:

It's a gray area. I think when you're talking about Rocky Mountain Oysters, you're specifically talking about the testes prepared as a separate thing - deep fried, served with dipping sauce, etc.

I've mostly had them served in someone's garage with copious quantities of mass produced lager. That's sort of a dipping sauce, right?

Asian supermarkets or stores -- I guess it is a California thing, but they're around on the east coast too. They're in some standard stores as well (I think it originated in Japan). I guess it might be kind of hard to find in the midwest, wouldn't know. It's nice but it isn't the most special thing in the world, so probably not worth going out of your way for. Think of those cheese dipping sticks, except thinner and dipped in chocolate. Watch out for those trans fats!
