11AM (CT) Presser today

i thought this thread would be a little more serious at this point...........
Why? Is there a health issue or something? Or is he just retiring? Everyone knew TO would retire at some point. I sort of figured he'd make this announcement about mid-season last year.

Sounds like he will still be around 6 months after him retiring to help with anything the new AD might not be accustomed to. Says he will still do some recruiting of players as well.

Doesn't sound like a new AD has been picked, but Harvey hasn't spoken yet.

@HuskerExtraBC

Perlman said he does not intend to hold a public search for a replacement because high-profile candidates won't take part in that.

@ESPN_BigTen

Perlman: "We should be able to attract the very best to this position."Already started search, hired Jed Hughes as consultant.

Harvey saying that he's already interviewed candidates, and says he told the press that so they can have fun following him around, tracking his car.

i wonder if he is retiring because he is so disgusted at the replacement refs, he wants nothing to do with any football?

@GrantMuessel

Perlman said search for new AD won't be public and he's alway begun. Hired a search consultant, who found new Big 12 and Michigan ADs

@UNLNews

.harvey_perlman: #UNL is an important enough place nationally that we attract very high-caliber candidates. Have already begun nat'l search.

@Matt_Davison

I've been in the room for two retirements from Tom Osborne. Both very sad days for me and #Husker fans everywhere. Incredible human being.

@swmckewonOWH

The search will not be open or public. Perlman has hired a search firm. The search has already begun. Perlman has already done interviews.

@mitchsherman

Next three months are sure to bring out best and worst in Nebraskans as they lobby for their favorites. Faster Perlman moves, the better.

Not a public interview for the new AD position. Tom to have an advisory role in the selection process.
