Check the link guys, Dobson was a great hire by Bo. Glad he is part of this team, especially in the offseason.

Winning a Championship = Only One Option
It reminded Dobson of a story about a coach that once asked his players a single question.

"Who wants to win a championship?" he asked.

Every hand in the room went up.

"All right," the coach replied. "Then, I hope every guy whose hand went up realizes you absolutely have no options ... none. You just gave 'em up. You have one - to do whatever it takes to win the championship. Anything outside of that, you can't go there. Every team around the country is waving their hands just like you are, and they think they have options. They think they can go out on Saturday night and do whatever they want to do. But the ones who raise their hands and mean it, they know better."

That story made sense to Dobson. "It stuck with me," he said, admitting it was the trigger

Way to many quotes to post, but this is an awesome insight to Dobson and the program.

I feel they omitted the most critical Dobson Rule, which of course to make sure your wife and kids are well hidden, lest people start rapin everybody. Up in there.

Dear Harvey

Please pay attention to Dobson rule #9

Sincerely,

Bo

Bo is the one that should have paid attention to rule #9 (in the past, anyway).

I disagree somewhat with Perlman's public handling of the reprimand, but Bo is the one who forgot his role as the face and ambassador of the program in his many blow-ups. But, those days - I think - are over. Bo has turned a new leaf, it seems. The days of running after referees or getting into altercations with cameraman - stuff that actually, quite embarrasses the program. Tom Osborne put up a better front in his PR by being nice about it, in the TO way, but you can tell he was dead serious when he had this to say:

“It is important that people maintain a sense of perspective and balance concerning the football program in view of the events of last Saturday. Bo has indicated that events such as those will not happen again. I take him at his word, and agree that it is very important that going forward we do not see a recurrence.
Bo & Carl were both in the wrong that game, and as far as any censure from the administration, they really have nobody to blame but themselves. Would I have liked it if TO & Harvey both got behind the guy and said, "F U Big 12, you screwed us. Anybody would be that mad"? Yeah, I think I would have. But obviously that is not the way either of those guys want to represent the Nebraska football program, and I can respect that.

While some of what you said may be true, it has no bearing on the fact that Harvey Perlman was out of line. He overstepped his duties, and should have let Osborne handle it, if it was such a problem. But then again, this is the same Harvey Perlman who is responsible for the Pederson and Callahan clusterfail. So, I'm not surprised.

And the same Harvey Perlman who is hugely responsible for Nebraska being in the Big 10.

How did he overstep his duties as Chancellor of the university Bo and his brother just embarrassed, though? I disagree with that. He mishandled it by hurting Bo's feelings as a result, and leaving Bo feeling like the administration didn't have his back. That's the misstep (and I suppose it's open to debate). It is not inappropriate at all for Harvey to take action.

Also, in what sense is Harvey responsible for Callahan's failure as a coach after two promising but fall-short seasons.

It's just as much, if not more so, Tom Osborne that got us into the Big Ten. He's universally respected, and an extremely smart and thoughtful man.

Harvey issued a statement, that didn't need to be said. If it was such an issue, and needed to be publicly stated, then you have to believe that Dr. Tom would have done it. As the AD, it's his job. By not doing it, it tells me he didn't agree with it, and Harvey did it anyway.

Also, even though many forget, Harvey is on the hook for the Callahan and Pederson debacle. He cost the university millions of dollars by extending their contracts (and many people didn't like this) before firing them (after being pressured by the fanbase) a few months later. He also stood by while Pederson almost destroyed the soul of Nebraska football, made former players unwelcome, and alienated the fanbase. It's funny how he didn't feel the need to issue a statement during that time, but he felt it was vital when Bo got pissed at the refs for screwing the team.
