1st Northwestern trip

+1 darkhorse. Very true for Chicago.

======================================

In 2012 I stayed downtown at a moderately priced place called Club Quarters at 111 W Adams St. Since it's downtown it's very safe. Think I paid $170 or so for the room. It's about 20 miles to the stadium from downtown. But downtown Chicago is such an awesome location that's where I'd stay if I was going again.

We stayed near Evanston at a super 8, it was a fine area. Took the trains around Chicago, worked out pretty well. Go see the Navy Pier, Wills Tower, take a boat tour on the lake, or take the river tour through Chicago, both good.

Evanston itself is a quiet, rich little area, there is basically nothing to do there and the bars don't open (even on game day) until 11 or noon...

Are you driving there? If you are be prepared for $35-$50 a night parking at a downtown hotel. You can find hotels with free parking in the suburbs that are close to the trains that run into the city. That might be a good option to save some bucks.

Depending on what discounts you have access to the Hampton Inn Majestic in downtown Chicago is a reasonably affordable option. I think that we paid around $160 per night?

Who all is making the Northwestern trip this year? I've been sort of busy lately, so don't think I can swing it. But I sure had fun two years ago.
