2006 starting WR's

Guys I have to admit that it I am absolutely giddy to have this many excellent choices at wide receiver. You look up and down that list. Man there are some major potential play makers. Size-speed combos up and down.

i talked with coach bill earlier today and ask why i wasn't on the list. he stated, in no particular order...

  • i've never been on the team.
  • i'm no longer a student.
  • i'm a middle-aged doughboy.
  • i run like a spaz.
  • i catch like a girl.
  • and he just doesn't like me.
... man... he didn't have to be so mean about it...

I think Nunn proved a lot to "himself" in the Alamo Bowl. He can be the man if keeps his head in the game. I was really surprised at how he preformed in that game. He looked like the player we all had heard he could be. I think it will be very hard to to push him out of the starting line up. Its his to lose but I think a light went on against Mich.

GBR!!!
I think Nunn is a good player. If he can work through his "alligator-arm-itis" he can become a great player.

Spain and Purify are the only newcomers that I see with a realistic shot of making an immediate impact. Swift and Nunn, with their experience in the system and proven game time performance, will be difficult to unseat as the "starters" But remember that Callahan freely substitutes his recievers, and that Hardy was the main target until he got injured. Brooks could also come in and be a player, as he was hit with the injury bug as well. Jackson is an enigma, and I have not seen him practice nor heard much about him, so any opinion I would have would be entirely conjecture. Meno and Will seem like they are tremendous athletes who will be a big part of our offense in a couple of years, but Will needs to hit the weight room to be a everydown receiver in the big twelve, and Meno needs to refine his game a little bit more. This is a great problem to have ladies and gentlemen, and I think it is a testament to Bill and his staff for going out there and getting the guys we needed. We honestly have 8 or 9 guys who can play ball, and the competition for starting spots should be great for both our team and these young men. GBR!

didnt leon jackson win the scout team award for his play at WR? maybe if he makes some strides in the offseason he could see action on both sides of the ball. too many possibilities.
