2009 QB prediction

Lee will be more than servicable, he will be outstanding. My prediction for stats are 500+ yds rushing and 3000+ yds passing. However due to his mobility he will get dinged a couple times forcing Green to come in and forfiet his redshirt. Lee will remain the #1 all season.

I remember the exact same thing when Joe Dailey hit campus. I was at the Texas A&M game when Dailey threw some pretty good passes. For the rest of the year, fans were clammoring that Dailey needed to start over Lord. However, this is a different staff. Using last year as our only evidence of what is to happen, Lee may be the only QB to ever step foot on the field.

I remember the Joe Dailey crap in 2003 as well. The talking heads were going crazy over a duck he threw to Herian against Utah State saying how awesome a pass it was, then the leg humping really gained speed against A&M, and then Lord got us up 28-0 in the 2nd qtr. against ISU, Dailey came in and the offensive output came to a screeching halt. One joker that sat behind me would always tell his son that they were staying for at least one “Dailey Drive” before they would leave. The next year he was calling for Dailey’s head. Good times!

I should add two things.

The pushing for the #2 QB is not at all limited to Husker fans, it's pretty universal. But it does disprove the "Nebraska fans are smarter than everyone else" notion.

I was guilty of screaming for the #2 QB myself once. In my defense, it was 1981, we were on the verge of losing our 3rd game out of 4 (in an absolute killer of a non-conf schedule), and Turner Gill was the man on the bench. Plus I was drenched in the rain.

Gill came off the bench in the 2nd half, we beat Auburn, and went on to have a shot at the championship.

Lee will be serviceable, maybe even better than that.

He won't be good enough for some fans, and we'll lose a close game, or play a weak team too close, and there will be clamoring for Green or Washington to start, because some fans know that the best player on the team is the #2 QB. I can't predict exactly when this will happen, but the over/under line is halftime of the opener.

This will be made worse by one of them looking good in mop up time in an early game.

Bo will tells fans that Lee is the clear #1 and is by far the best in practice.

Some fans won't believe him or think he doesn't know what he's talking about.

Possibly Green or Washington will get more quality time in a loss or if Lee takes a hit and has to sit for a few series, or the rest of the game. The new QB won't play well, but not quite a la Beau Davis in Lubbock.

Lee will finish the year strong and prove Bo correct, but some fans still won't be satisfied.
I'll go with this one.

Lee is going to be #1 all year and next year. Id rather see Latravis Washington be #2 and put him in various wildcat formations and have him ready in an event that Lee goes down. This will redshirt Green and have him ready to take over the QB position after next year. Green will have plenty of knowledge of the system and give Gabbert 2 years to learn the system as well. See how that nice system works out, if only it were that easy :)

I think VA pretty much nailed it. The biggest question left is, who ends up with the redshirt: Green, Washington or neither?

Lee will be a joe ganz type of guy.. minus the all the dumb mistakes that plagued joe (though i love you joe and you have taken us closer to the promise land.. so when the huskers do come back the foundation that our new success has been built on is because of you in a large part)

i think lee will get the job done and hopefully we will not slide... back this year (maybe we go 10 wins hopefully) or atleast stay at 9.... we will go to a bowl game and regardless of we win our lose the stage will be set for the domination we will inflict next year... zac lee will really shine next year

I don't want to see Green taking mop up snaps, or any snaps for that matter.

That is all.

Zac Lee remains the starter throughout the entire season, but Green will get his share of snaps to demonstrate that freshman get playing time at Nebraska.
