Yeah, I was thinking about that. I think their blue is probably light enough to differentiate between the two.

I don't think I want Notre Dame to suck. College football is more fun when the traditional powers are relevant. I don't want to see Boise, UCONN, or Louisville in BCS bowl games..

I guess since Nebraska is no longer nationally relevant, we're turning into one of those fan bases that spends its time rooting for other teams to lose. :hmmph

I was hoping certain teams would lose in 1995. I bet ALL Bama fans are hoping some teams lose now and during the past few years (Auburn? LSU?). Not sure what being nationally relevant has anything to do with that.

Sure, we're nationally relevant to some degree because of our success in the 70s, 80s, and 90s. But compared to the teams that have legitimately been in the national championship discussion the last few years? Meh. Our national exposure lately consists of getting pummeled on national television.

It's like the Iowa State fan who knows his team has no shot at any real success, so he spends his time rooting for other teams to fail.

We can only grasp on to that history for so long. People care less and less every year. Recruits these days don't even remember the last time Nebraska was a national power.

 
I can live with these for one game. Much better than last years alt uni IMO. Woulda been better to also go with the matte black helmet and maybe some silver/gray pants but the jersey is cool.

 
So a serious question. Does one single alternate uniform game really help recruiting or is it more beneficial to do something like Oregon does with 70 combinations?

I understand the excitement behind the new uniforms but I just don't see where 1 game out of 12-14 would make a kid jump to a school. Or is it more along the lines the kid likes the fact that the school is open to doing anything at all?

I think it is the perfect middle ground. We have much more tradition than Oregon. Not many schools could/should pull that off.

One game doesn't hurt our tradition. The kids get a bunch of new gear, all that is different colors and cutting edge tech. They get more media exposure, the game is more hyped.

I think it does help recruiting. It doesn't throw away our tradition, but it shows the school isn't so traditional and boring. Lets the kids have some fun.

It just creates some excitement and buzz that kids like. I can't speak for those recruits who value it so much though, because it wouldn't make any difference to me if I were being recruited.

But then again, if I were a recruit and had an offer from Nebraska, there wouldn't be any second thoughts on where I was going. ;)
