2013 NFL Discussion Thread

I worry about the longevity of these read-option guys in the NFL.
I concur.... Their "mobility", while a great weapon for them puts them in situations to get crushed by LB's or Safety's...
Funny thing is RGIII, the only one of the newbies to get knocked out, got hurt only on scrambles.
True, but taking off down the field increases your chances of getting laid out...

When you're outside the pocket running the ball, you're no longer protected by the QB rules, you're a running back. Even if you only average 5 designed runs a game, that's 80 extra chances to get lit up every year (not even counting scrambles).

It's not a huge deal in college football, because there's only 12-14 games, and you're only playing for 1-4 years.

Not to mention the drastic talent level difference.

Farmers' Almanac: Super Bowl may be 'Storm Bowl'

LEWISTON, Maine (AP) -- The Farmers' Almanac is using words like "piercing cold," ''bitterly cold" and "biting cold" to describe the upcoming winter. And if its predictions are right, the first outdoor Super Bowl in years will be a messy "Storm Bowl."
The 197-year-old publication that hits newsstands Monday predicts a winter storm will hit the Northeast around the time the Super Bowl is played at MetLife Stadium in the Meadowlands in New Jersey. It also predicts a colder-than-normal winter for two-thirds of the country and heavy snowfall in the Midwest, Great Lakes and New England.

"We're using a very strong four-letter word to describe this winter, which is C-O-L-D. It's going to be very cold," said Sandi Duncan, managing editor.

Bills beating the Pats.

Terrell Pryor with 100+ rushing yards

Steelers and Jags have only scored a safety

Four teams with 14 or fewer points are leading into the fourth quarter

Mass craziness

Chiefs. Amazing what a competent qb does for a team and their motivation. They played a bad team, sure, but on the road, they hit 'em in the mouth, stepped on their throat, and cruised to an easy win. I'm half excited for my Chiefs now.
