Matte red with shiny black, very nice. Guess I'm a little surprised at how shiny the stripes look. Thought they would be more of a flat black instead of the silver.

I love the uniforms but for one don't really care for the black on the back of the helmets. But if the kids love it I love it.

Initial reaction was disappointment. I know that once they come out of the tunnel and get ready for kickoff I will be all in! I do like the idea of alt uniform once a year. Brings a diff perspective to a game if anything.

I'll let you know how I feel overall about 8:30 tomorrow evening from the stadium. For now...I'm liking the helmet a lot...a real change up...looks industrial, in a tough sort of way. Not sold on the silvery stripes, but will reserve judgement till I see them under the lights, flashing by Illini defenders and destroying Illini ball carriers.

You know I'm an alumni who cares that this uniform will essentially represent our whole state for a Saturday afternoon this fall, and it doesn't do justice to how iconic and classic our regular uniform is, nor the success that this program has had and what that success has meant to the state. Sometimes imagery is meaningful.

You are going to make a great Blue hair in the future Schu.. you already have the bitching and complaining part down.

Probably because we have to accept these halfass design efforts while so many other teams actually come up with some cool alternates. I just wish they would do a better job with them. Might just be me and a few others but I have not been impressed.......yet.
