2014 Baseball Season Notes

Nebraska has moved up to 28th in the latest NCBWA poll.

Indiana is 18, and Illinois received votes (would be 38th if it went that far).

As long as none of these teams do something stupid, I think all three should be in the NCAA Tourney.

So IF Nebraska wins the BIG tourney what are the chances they host a regional? Gotta think the NCAA is hoping they are an option as they know the fans will show up.

thats a good question, it will come down to those smaller schools that may earn a 1 seed but cannot host based on facilities... it would be awesome to see, as i have a really bad taste in my mouth from the last time they hosted..... san fran dons.... manhattan jaspers..... yuk

If Nebraska wins the B1G Tourney, they'll be a Top 16 team. Chances are good they'll host a regional (not as a superseed, though), as the NCAA loves to put baseball in Lincoln when they feasibly can.

DeLeon was set to throw Monday.

“He’s day by day,” Erstad said. “Will he be stretched out nine innings by this weekend? I highly doubt that. He still hasn’t spun any breaking balls, he still hasn’t thrown his off-speed stuff off the mound, there’s an outside chance we could use him in some form on the weekend, but again, it’s going to depend on how he comes back tomorrow after throwing today off the mound and see where it’s at.”

“I told him today, ‘there’s no pressure. If you’re ready, you’re ready, if you’re not, you’re not,’” Erstad said.

Freudian Slip that he said "day by day" instead of "day to day"?
