“Officials are instructed to call the first foul, be diligent with the whistle and no matter how unpopular, continue calling fouls as the rulebook dictates,” Collins said. "This will be good for the game.”

Because of this, Nebraska coach Tim Miles has had almost every practice officiated since the first week. He’s done it in early-season practices in the past, but plans on doing it more now, and may continue doing so throughout the season.

Anybody know if the rule changes specified in this post would help a smaller team or bigger team?

That video show a lot of good calls on Wisconsin and some that should have been called on Wisconsin. Weird.

Last year there was an emphasis on calling hand checks. At the beginning of the season the games were brutal to watch with all the fouls. However, as the year went on, either the players adjusted or the refs stopped calling it so much.

I was reminded of how HS basketball used to be. Now, HS basketball is very rough. But, very few players foul out. I remember when teams had to have a pretty deep bench because players were always fouling out in the last minutes. I also remember games being much higher scoring.

Maybe this will get basketball back to being similar to what it once was.
