2016 AVCA Coaches Poll

And Minnesota plays Wisconsin on Wednesday. We could be back on top next poll if we take care of business this week.

And... WE'RE BAAAACK!

Wonder who showed the love for Penn St. ? I guess after the next 4 matches they will know where they stand...

There is some great volleyball being played in this state. UNK is ranked in the NCAA Div 2 top 5 and both Midland and Hastings are in the top 3 of NAIA. Lots of home grown talent having great seasons.

Ray Gooden, head coach of Northern Illinois. The weird thing is, he doesn't play either Nebraska or Penn State this year, so I'm not sure how he could say PSU is more deserving.

Quick update on Nebraska's run at #1 this year from Hail Varsity:

Nebraska volleyball maintained its unanimous hold on the top spot in the AVCA poll this week. That wasn't a surprise, but it's still remarkable when you stop and look at it. It has been four weeks since anyone has voted a team other than Nebraska No. 1 and the Huskers have earned all of the first place in nine of the thirteen polls this season. Including the preseason poll, that's 715 out of a possible 832 votes.
That means we've gotten 86% of all possible #1 votes thus far this year.

The Gophers (25-4) took over the No. 1 ranking after beating then-No. 1 Nebraska in five sets last week in Minneapolis. The Gophers take a 10-match winning streak into the tournament.

Nebraska (27-2), which had been ranked No. 1 the previous five week, dropped to No. 2.

The vote was very close. Minnesota got 36 first-place votes and 1,570 total points.

Nebraska received 27 first-place votes and 1,561 total points.

Sunday, Nebraska received the No. 1 overall seed for the NCAA Tournament. Minnesota is the No. 2 seed.
