Interesting article here. It is about Cannabis legalization efforts in Michigan and an anti-cannabis group who is now asking the state legislator to legalize. Why you may ask? They are pushing their republican state legislator to legalize cannabis so less voters turn out at midterms to vote Dem. If a bill is not passed by midterm and it goes to a ballot initiative the group will then oppose legalization. A great example of how politically motivated groups are willing to flip flop on any issue to maintain control. 

 
With a strong economy in 2018 - will the blue wave become a trickle?  This article states - maybe not.

Crowley officially conceded to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a Democratic Socialist. I found these very interesting at 538's election night blog:

NY-14 is about as stark a dichotomy as you’ll find in a Democratic primary. Crowley is 56, Ocasio-Cortez is 28. Crowley is of Irish descent, Ocasio-Cortez is of Puerto Rican descent. Crowley is the former chairman of the New Democrat Coalition, a group of moderates; Ocasio-Cortez is a die-hard progressive. And Crowley is the No. 4 Democrat in the U.S. House and is often mentioned as a future speaker.
 
It may just be that the 14th District doesn’t look like Crowley anymore. According to the U.S. Census, there are 26,002 people of Irish descent in the district. There are 71,531 of Puerto Rican descent. Overall, the district is 49 percent Hispanic, 23 percent white, 17 percent Asian and 9 percent black.

I find it really interesting because Crowley was the person who had the most support as an alternative to Pelosi as the next Speaker. Wonder who takes up that mantle now.

Dems nominated Jared Polis, the second most wealthy member of Congress, as their candidate for Colorado governor.

Interesting tidbit about Polis from 538 as well:

On Polis winning the Democratic nomination for Colorado governor — he’d be the first openly gay governor, if elected.
“I think it really gives Colorado an opportunity to stick a thumb in the eye of Mike Pence, whose view of America is not as inclusive as where America is today,” he said recently.
 

Openly gay dad, no less.

Blah blah, identity politics, I know. But it's not like LGBT voters are a big enough bloc to win a state. Personally I think it's pretty cool. Diversity makes our politics more inclusive & representative. I like it when more of us can see ourselves in our government. Particularly at a time when the GOP is doubling down on old white dudes.

 
LMAO. Yeah, the New Yorkers in that district nominated a Dem Soc to kiss Trump's butt... THAT'S why she won.

Trump's insatiable desire to somehow make everything about him spits out some really stupid takes sometimes.

I had no idea Polis is gay and I live in his district! Either I'm just out of the loop or it's just not a big deal out here (which it shouldn't be).

I see he's going to be going up against Walker Stapleton whose campaign commercials are "Trump Trump Trump Trump Trump!" :facepalm:
