Conspiracy Theory: Cavs get #1 pick to help keep LeBron in Cleveland.
Eh, the Nuggets should have made the playoffs this year and they didn't. So it doesn't make sense to reward a borderline playoff team. Taking is just part of the game now, the NBA can't do anything about it. They can, however, find a way to balance teams more before it ends up becoming the Western all-stars against the eastern all-stars. Small market teams are going to have no chance if it continues to be superstar team v superstar team. Credit the Warriors for drafting well but no way in heck should Durant have been able to go there and make the Western All-Stars.If they really want to stop tanking, they should let the Nuggets win the lottery this year.

Cavs won't get the first pick but if they do it would be used as a trading piece most likely. Or they will take whoever Lebron wants them to so he stays.
That would be interesting. Many teams do tank on purpose and that is bad for the league but some just don't have the pieces in place yet to field a competitive team. You either make the playoffs or you get a lottery pick. The NBA "purgatory" does not help the franchise and therefore teams tank. It is that simple, barely missing the playoffs gets you a mid first rounder and watching from home. What they should do is make the odds of winning the #1 pick equal for all the teams who miss the playoffs. This would reduce tanking
