Whoa.

This is just ridiculous. There’s 87 high major teams in the 7 high major leagues within Division 1. Of them, only 16 of the 73 (21.9%) that aren’t in the Big Ten already would be expected to have a winning record in this league. Plus only 1 per league out of the MWC/WCC (San Diego State + Gonzaga) which are also very solid mid-major leagues. Big Ten this year may be the deepest league in CBB history (perhaps the Big East in 2011 or the ACC a few years back).

The good thing for NU is that there are a LOT of senior laden teams in the Big Ten this year. Hopefully that works well timing wise for us, we’re young with a new roster this year. Seemingly next year when everyone is working to replace a ton of guys, NU can take a step up with the experience they’ve gotten and lumps they’ve taken this year a la Northwestern from 2019 to 2020.
