So out of those four two of them were throwbacks. Nothing wrong with that but takes basically no creativity on their part.
That's been my complaint. The best ones are the ones they really didn't have to do anything to come up with. I agree with your other two choices but it's been more miss than hit when they haven't just copied something from the past.
I agree but I don't treat it as a knock.
Our program identity is old school, nose to the ground, humble but proud hard work and isn't flashy. Flashy uniforms don't make sense for us, so the best creative decisions are the ones to keep it simple, then focus all the energy on good execution of the simple idea.
2012 - sucked, cheap and shiny and bad design elements
2013 - good idea, ruined by the busy-ness of the tire tread era
2014 - pure garbage
2015 - pure garbage
2016 - good design, good look, still poor material presentation with the duct tape esque striping and arbitrary cuts
2017 - simple, but great
2018 - great (imo, i know not everyone liked it)
2019 - simple, but great - what 2013 should have been
2020 - simple, but great
I see the last 4 years as similar to Ohio State's alternates. Rarely trying to redesign many elements, more mostly focusing on good color schemes.
