2021 Ryder Cup

Jon Rahm with the putter on fire to put Rahm/Garcia two up on Thomas Spieth.

Cantlay/Schauffele showing McIlroy/Poulter where the Woodshed is located, winning the first four holes.

US currently up 2-1-1 on the front nine of the first matches of the day (Foursomes/Alternate Shot).

Rahm making everything, Thomas making nothing.  Not a good combo for the US.

Cantlay/Schauffele now five up after five.  Love to see that happen to Poulter.

US currently leads 3-1-0.

The Thomas/Spieth paring was expected to be pretty much a constant this week.  But Thomas better get his putter figured out or he'll be on the bench.  He missed another chance and their group is three down after 12.

No idea how this ball got here.  Or how they found it.  And I can't imagine he's ever practiced a shot like this.

But Spieth/Thomas were two down with two to play.  Had to have this hole.  And Spieth hit this shot to five feet.

Then Thomas missed the put.

US goes 3-1 in the first set of Foursomes.

Fourball matches this afternoon - two vs two best ball matches.

Fourball pairings:

Johnson/Schauffele vs Casey/Wiesberger

DeChambeau/Scheffler vs Rahm/Hatton

Finau/English vs McIlroy/Lowry

Thomas/Cantlay vs Fleetwood/Hovland

Interesting that Spieth is out and Thomas is back out there.

Also, no Koepka, although they might be trying to rest him coming back from injury.

Would love to see a relatively stress-free singles day. That hasn't happened for a very long time.

I've enjoyed seeing Poulter go down in flames.
