2022-2023 Season Notes

I have visions of him leaving and going off and doing great things……and we got basically a half of a year of him.  

 
So, I've been trying to figure out the quadrants and where we are at.  I haven't been able to find a good site that exactly shows what teams are in each quadrant.

So, there are 363 teams ranked.  Divide that by 4 and you get 90.75.  We are #92 after yesterday's win.  So, is it safe to assume that we are at the top of Quadrant 2 and right on the edge of being in quadrant 1?

Quadrants are a sliding scale depending on where the game was played

Using the quadrant system the quality of wins and losses will be organized based on game location and the opponent's NET ranking.

Quadrant 1: Home 1-30, Neutral 1-50, Away 1-75
Quadrant 2: Home 31-75, Neutral 51-100, Away 76-135
Quadrant 3: Home 76-160, Neutral 101-200, Away 135-240
Quadrant 4: Home 161-353, Neutral 201-353, Away 241-353

A couple examples:

The win vs Maryland in Lincoln is a Q1 win since Maryland is #21.

The win vs Wisconsin in Madison is a Q2 win since Wisconsin is #76.  If Wisconsin were to move into the top 75 then it would become a Q1 win since it was on the road.

The win vs Iowa in Lincoln is a Q2 win since Iowa is #36.  If we were to win vs Iowa in Iowa City in 2 weeks then that game would be a Q1 win since Iowa is #36.  So we could go 2-0 vs Iowa, but one game is a Q1 win and one game is a Q2 win.

OK, I was seeing that info and not understanding what the heck they were saying.  Thanks for the explanation.  So, a win over us would be a Q2 or Q3 depending on if it was home or away since we are at 92.

 
It's great seeing the McGowens at the game and so excited for the team.  Hopefully that shows Nebraska was more than just a stopping point for them.

We have 2 fewer wins than the 4th place team and we have 3 games left.  That's with the #14, #9 and #5 teams in the standings.

This team is creating excitement at the end of the season.   chuckleshuffle

Now...please...oh please....don't go lay an egg against Minnesota on Saturday.

Here is a site that has a best guess on what the team sheet would look like to the NCAA committee.  It shows quadrants home/away, wins/losses & scores.

Nebraska's problem is they have been blown out a lot & the NET over emphasizes scoring margin.  They have only played 5 games decided by under 10 points.  They are 4-1 in those games, so in 13 of their losses they lost by at least 10 with an average loss by 16.

So if NET includes scorning margin but the guy complaining about it didn't.....

So, the basketball team needs to be more like football and lose all their games by one score or less.
