2023 Fall Camp Notes - Linebackers

Will be interesting to see how much of this is legit & gamesmanship.  The 3-3-5 playbook I've seen moves positions around vs players to different positions.  For example, if the "jack" is your natural edge player/rusher role, the "jack" may line up where you would expect to find the "Mike", but he's blitzing, and still your 4th defender coming.  The "Mike" may line up where you would expect to find the "jack", but the call is designed to spill the ball to him ect...

I love our linebackers - the entire squad so far.  A mix of experienced guys and transfers/newcomers and young guys.

The thing I did not like was Chins philosophy which ran guys into the ground every week with Reimer and Henrich.  They had to do it all.  I mean, they got broken down and played through pain and eventually got injured.

Will love to see this group stay fresh and keep a rotation going.  Keep building towards the future and keep the best players playing fresh and healthy.  Rotation is needed for once IMHO.

It's interesting to see the evolution of the depth chart at the Jack position since the season started.  If memory serves correct, Borders, Butler, Gbayor, & Sherman have each been listed as the starter at some point in the season, Butler & Borders are now DE's, & Umanmielen is the #2 Jack.
