2024-2025 College Football Playoff

I think it was just a blown call more than anything. 53 didn't even try to get his head turned around until the ball was pretty much already intercepted, and he pushed/pulled Melton out of trying to make any sort of legitimate play on the ball.

Probably should've been called.

Ohio State favored by almost 9 points.  The championship is theirs to lose.  They should dominate and win easily.  They have the greatest talent and a $20 mil roster as they say.  Notre Dame is without 2 starting offensive lineman, 2 starting defenders and best defensive player/lineman.

Ohio State will win so easily it will be over before half time.  Congrats to Ryan Day and the Buckeyes.  You did it.

Agreed and you just have to live with a 50/50 call like that.  If PSU won, I would not have faulted that play.  It was equally competitive for 4 quarters and I enjoyed watching it.  Really enjoyed ND winning, but regardless a good game.  And, the backup QB that stepped in and went 6-7 for 60 yards to get that FG before first half was highly overlooked.  That made it a 7 point game going into half - anybody's game and somebody was going to find a way to win.

I know Feeman laughed at it (the PI) because those same officials kept throwing flags against them anytime they made a big play the week before against Georgia.  3 times to be exact, and wiped out ND's big momentum plays and backed them up instead, forcing punts.
That overturned ND interception was a break from what they had been doing, ignoring most of the contact that wasn't egregious.  There they latched onto mostly unavoidable contact to throw the flag.  The rules don't really answer the question of what to do if the WR reverses course and curls back towards the LOS while the defender continues running down the field.

If the defender had known where the ball was he would not have continued to run down the field. The WR “reversed course” because he was going for the ball. The defender on him wasn’t going for the ball because he didn’t see it. It wasn’t unavoidable contact. I think the rules answer it just fine.

This is a complete fabrication but sounds fun.

There is no [written] rule that a defender running in one direction must change direction because a receiver cuts back across his path.
