2024 College Football Playoff Rankings

It is going to shake-up this week and again next week (rivalry weekend) and the following week (conf championships) before it's all said and done.

Personally, I cannot justify Boise State being a top 4 team at all.  I will be happy for them to make the playoffs, I just don't think they deserve a bye week.  That is my only strong opinion about the playoffs.

I feel as if Boise State is "one and done".  Just like 150 million other college football fans think.

So why give them a bye-week?

The last 2 years the committee said they go by which teams are most deserving, and not by wins-and-losses alone.

Is that changing now?  And nobody is talking about it.

I strongly feel that there is a gathering of big-money folks that want to avoid Boise State hosting a playoff game at home on Blue Turf    vs an SEC team .... with 38K capacity !!!.  :hellloooo

I believe they would rather give them a bye-week and let them get murdered on a neutral "dorritos bowl" field against Ohio State or Georgia.

Companies don't want to pay high-dollar advertising for Boise State blue-turf home playoff game.

Tell me how and why Boise State deserves to be a top-4 playoff team.

How many P4 teams in the top-25-40 would not have the same record or better with this schedule.

Even Nebraska or Minnesota would have won 9 or 10 games.

Boise State 2024 record 10-1

Georgia SOUTHERN  - W
#7 Oregon - LOSS
PORTLAND State (FCS) - W
Wash State (Independant) - W
Utah STATE - W
Hawaii - W
Nevada-Las Vegas - W
San Diego STATE - W
Nevada, Reno - W
San Jose STATE - W
Wyoming University - W
Oregon STATE (Independant) - ?
CCG - ??

Please, justify a college-football-playoff "Bye-Week" for anyone playing against these teams.

You are not what your record says you are, because the committee has stated that as criteria the last few playoffs.  The committee even said they "Decide who is Most deserving".  And that is why 13-1 FSU did not make it last year.  Or the reason why they now say "A 3-loss team could potentially make the playoffs".

alabama may miss the playoff.   who would have thought that when it expanded to 12 teams?  or do they automatically make the playoffs?

Alabama is right outside of the top 12 bubble, which makes no sense.  And some experts believe their is still a chance for them, which is ridiculous to even say that.

It's not hate towards Alabama at all.  Just keep it real simple and admit that this was not their year.  3 losses, but 2 of those were awful.

21 point favorite against Vanderbilt and lost.

14 point favorite against OU and lost by 21 points.

Reward someone else IMHO with 2 losses or less.  Sorry Bama, it's just not your year.  You can start dominating again maybe next year.

It's not about justification, it's about how the rules work:

"The four highest-ranked conference champions will be seeded one through four and will receive a first-round bye. The fifth conference champion will be seeded where it was ranked or at No. 12 if it is outside the top 12 rankings. Non-conference champions ranked in the top four will be seeded beginning at No. 5. Because of this, the seeding, 1 through 12, could look different than the final rankings."

First of all, pay attention to the last line. Second, the rankings are predicting Boise ending as the 4th highest rated conference champion, regardless of whether they think Boise is the 4th best team.

I love the playoff, I'm familiar with it's structure, but my complaint is decision making with 4 P4 champs and 1 G5 champ.

I am hoping that they swap Boise with the Big 12 Conf Champ winner.

I'm not sure ASU can win 2 more games (which includes the Big XII championship).  I hope so.

I think Arizona State plays in a tougher conference with better competition than Boise does in the Mountain West.

And right now ASU has a better resume.  3 wins over ranked teams, and if they win the CCG it would make 4 wins over ranked teams.  The Big XII also has 5 teams ranked.  The MTN West has 2 - Boise State and UNLV.  And Boise State has no wins over ranked opponents.  Beating UNLV in the CCG would be their first and only.

I would argue ASU 11-2 with a Big XII championship should be above Boise State in the CFP rankings.  At the very least, they should be ranked higher than 12 and should get home field advantage instead of Penn State or Notre Dame (no Conf champ games).

But even though I argue this to myself lol, swapping 12 with 4 is actually no different and would have to go through Ohio State or Oregon (whoever finishes 5th).

If they select Boise for 4th, fine.  But at least give the Big XII champ some love with a home field game in first round.  I believe those are the odd numbers - 11, 9, 7, 5.  That should be required lol.  Or give Boise State home field at 11 if ASU is 4th.  I know I'm arguing with the clouds, but at the end of the day 6-12 are decisions made by people who have to agree or disagree.
