2024 College Football Playoff Rankings

Doesn't look too bad.  I think they have the right teams.  B1G had a better year then the SEC.  Especially when you think about it - the SEC got 2 teams in and a former Big XII team (Texas).

I don't know who will come out on top - between Tenn, tOSU and Oregon.

I think each team could make a case to win in that grouping.

I think Texas will beat Clemson and ASU.

Georgia has a path if Indiana beats ND.  But ND is better than Georgia and would beat them.  I think Indiana will play the Irish close, and could pull off the upset, and I can see it happening.  Except, ND has a real good secondary, and offensively they have been turning drives into touchdowns all year.  Neither has really played tough teams. Not sure if Georgia will have QB1 healthy or available.

You would think Penn State has the easiest path.  That would be true if they were a dominating type of team.  I actually like SMU to beat them.

In fact, against Clemson, SMU had more yards, more 1st downs, more rushing, more passing.  While Clemson had no penalties the entire game.  There was a controversial penalty on SMU for tackling Clemson's QB Klubnik on 3rd down - personal foul was called, auto first down, next play (instead of punting) went for a long TD pass.  Klubnik got hit .05 second after releasing the ball.  Total BS call.  But also, Clemson scored 24 points from getting the ball in SMU territory (between 20 yard and 35 yards to paydirt).

Anyway, I like SMU over Penn State and they will beat Boise State too.

So my final 4 bracket is:

Oregon vs Texas

SMU vs Notre Dame

Championship -  Texas vs Notre Dame

G5 Tulane is very similar to Boise State.

Although Florida (7-5) is destroying Tulane (26-0), word from 2 weeks ago is that Boise State would be a 20 point underdog against OSU, Georgia, Oregon, Texas.... and a 14-17 point underdog against Tennessee, Notre Dame, Penn State... and a 10-13 point underdog against SMU, Indiana, Clemson, Arizona State.  Per Draft Kings.

Those lines would probably be higher now.

The teams from the Group of 5 add a nice September story to the mix.  But when the playoffs are on the line Dec & January for a championship.....   Good luck is all I can say.

Notre Dame vs Indiana is a coin flip.  Each team is good enough to beat each other.  Right now the spread is ND by 7.

I don't know what will happen. I am hoping for a close, exciting game.

I kinda want Indiana to pass it around and win the game.

But also, Notre Dame is a very good team on both sides of the ball.  I can see them winning by a lot.

Should be fun though!  Let them play!

LOL Penn State is now favored by 9 against SMU...??? LOL

The only way PSU can stay in this game is if they get super-calls from the Officals the same way Clemson did.  The questionable ones.... "Holding SMU"....  "Roughing the passer SMU"..... "Replay overturned, Penn State's ball"

Even though SMU is a 9 point underdog and the Networks & Advertisers WANT Penn State to advance against Boise State.......  I am sorry to tell you the truth, but SMU is a better team offensively and defensively the PSU and will BEAT Penn State in Happy Valley.

James Franklin will look shocked.  The media will sound confused.  SMU will win this game, and then beat Boise State, and then play the winner of Georgia/ND or Indiana.  Hello playoffs.

:woo    :snacks:

I got my a$$ kicked in the first College Football Playoff game. Google me!

Pride comes before the fall.  I wish we got to play these frauds again next year.
