2024 Fall Camp Notes - Offensive Line

If you’re gonna make a tweet like that maybe you would think to proof read it first.
Nah, man.  4d chess.

Gotta' make em' think you got a new revolutionary plan.

Single wing, right side double personel...  It'll be magical.

Call it "derecho diplopia formation".

Freshman Gibson Pyle wasn't was spotted at practice today so he may be the one that tweet above was referring to about being injured.

Edit: Latest update says he was at practice today which is a relief. Don't want to lose any more OL.

While is sucks that TP got hurt...it is probably safe to safe that NU is not looking to pass like crazy this year and more than likely the shots they take deep will be well timed and well protected.

Our best weapon stands behind center....we're passing the ball but we have ways to do it that are safe. To your point, we have to avoid 3rd and Long because most of those methods become much less effective when they're dropping 7 or 8 and defending the sticks.

I'd watch out for 2 things this year:

First down play sequencing. Chart how many times, when the game is still competitive, that first down is something other than a straight dropback or handoff. Screens, RPOs, Play Action, Quick Game....when this offense is clicking, expect a lot of this mixed in on first down. This is very much Satterfield's comfort zone as a play caller.

The second thing, and I'm not blaming anyone here because of the circumstances of a year ago and how the season played out, but the coaches coached scared down the stretch. They got so scared of the turnovers that they punted games away. What I'm looking for this year is an offense they have enough confidence in that when they get past the 50, to that 25-30 yard no man's zone before you're comfortably in range to try a FG........can this become 2 down territory. Can we feel confident to call a Stick route on 3rd and 7 and get a cheap 5 yards and set up 4th and 2 with a reasonable chance of converting.

Corcoran has been on a snap count at practice so far.  Mainly just trying to limit exposure.  Probably even more now with Teddy out.  So Gunnar Gottula and walk-on redshirt freshman Grant Seagren have been getting reps at LT with the ones.

Lutovsky still at least a week away from getting back in the mix.  Probably two weeks.

My cousin( like 3rd or 4th  ) needs to step it up, let's go Gunnar.  I don't know him of course and never met him but related on Grandma's side.

I think the coaches are pretty high on him.  He might be a year away yet.  But I think he's currently the #3 OT.  So he could get some snaps.
