That's fair, but what have these expectations gotten us honestly? I'm not saying I don't want to have them, I do, but chasing them has arguably killed this program. They don't have expectations. That is the point. Kirk created a culture of zero expectations and then he meets them.
He would have been canned years ago at any other school that actually had expectations.
In the two seasons they are 1-1 vs NU with one game being a "pick the score" game by NU where Iowa pretended their QB got hurt so they could put in the backup and Kirk could take heat off his kid AND they faked a head injury to that kid that Trey Palmer was abusing.
Go hawks!
Iowa knows what they are, and they've had success for their fans. They know their ceiling. Honestly, what's wrong with that? I respect it. Better than being a delusional middle tier school who will never win a natty. Not every school should realistically be shooting for more than 10 wins if it's never going to happen. To even get to 9-10 wins some of these schools need stability, hence Kirk being there forever. THAT is the point, not yours that every other school would have fired him by now. We would have yes, but look at us for the last decade after we fired Bo.
