2024 Polls and Rankings

So in the ultimate counting your chicks before they hatch question category:

If we start 7-0 as many think we are capable of doing, will that get us into the top 25 or even top 20?

There's a 100% chance we would be ranked as a 7-0 team, and probably an 90% chance we would at least be top 15.

For comparison, last year North Carolina was #10 at 6-0. They started with some momentum but they also played almost nobody in those first 6 games besides a #25 ranked Miami that naturally wasn't ranked after.

In 2016 we were #7 after starting 7-0 despite similarly not having played anyone of note except for Oregon who was obviously a terrible team that many weeks in.

I'm sure it is posted on the board here somewhere, but I'm curious how these preseason FPI actually turn out.  How many was Nebraska picked to win last year in the preseason?

Side quest - what does "tickled pink" actually mean and where did that phrase come from?  Do I actually want to know?

The expression "tickled pink" comes from the 17th century meaning of "tickle", which was to give pleasure or gratify. The phrase was first published in print in 1910 in an Illinois newspaper article, The Daily Review, but it's likely that the phrase was already popular before appearing in print. The article stated, "Grover Laudermilk was tickled pink over Kinsella's move in buying him from St. Louis".

The phrase may have originated from the feeling of being tickled, when your senses and nerves return to normal, leaving you feeling relaxed and perhaps a little pink in the cheeks. However, today the phrase has nothing to do with tickling and simply means pleasure or gratification. For example, you might say "I'm tickled pink" after your wife gives birth.

I figured we would end up ranked if we beat Colorado, although I assumed it’d require beating them by 14 at least. Hopefully we find out.
