2024 Spring Practice Notes - Special Teams

Looking though the ST stats @ https://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fbs it seems we were good most areas expect the highly visible ones like place kicking and punting. Buschini was good in 2022 so hopefully he can bounce back from whatever was going on last year. Alvano scares me. 60% isn't going to cut it. Wish we had a decent backup.

Well, hopefully, if Alvano doesn't improve (and the spring game didn't give me hope) Otomanelli is as good as advertised.

1) how is that possible? We were not that good.

2) how did they measure this?

PFF usually rates individual players.  So my suspicion on this is we have a bunch of players doing their job well but the couple who are not are the most important ones, like the kickers and returners.

So the "average" looks pretty good even though the results aren't nearly so much.
