I'd be curious to know what the breakdown of scholarship vs non is like. Remember: roster sizes are smaller, but there's more scholarships available now. There's probably a decent number of former walk-ons pursuing scholarship opportunities.
 
Let’s wait until we see the signings…such as 1273 signings out of 5,498 available, or whatever.

Sadly, I won’t know the back of the jersey names until we kick off for the game in Aug of 2026. We used to watch walk-ons and redshirts play and grow, the second team who were up next in a year or two. it’s why we stayed in the stands.

I think there was about 3,700 players in the portal in the first 1-2 days?

The players that have their name on the Stadium wall, an All-American portrait, a trophy or a plaque should thank their lucky stars that they are memorialized from then.

There will not be another trophy raised, a statue built, a number retired, a trophy won or a ring worn by the helmet that wears the N
for a long long time.

I hope we get all the best portal whores for the most money we can spend to have a winning season next year.

Nevermind becoming a Legend somewhere.

That sums up where I'm at. Maybe I'll get up to speed with the new college football, maybe I'll never adapt & accept it. I don't know.

Let's say NU is wildly successful in the portal, wins the B1G, and earns a spot in the CFP in the next year or two. I'm not sure how much pride I'll have or how invested I'll be in any success we might have going forward when it's largely due to temporary players coming in who are only here for a year or two.

Sorry for rehashing thoughts many have already expressed these last many months. I kind of feel like I'm having a few beers with some of you people and I'm repeating myself with each new pour.
 
I understand that a lot of fans want the o-line and d-line to add some players and they will but Nebraska needs to address the running back room. We have 8 running backs on the roster currently and all are still unproven and if Mozee goes back to the wr room we are down to 7. While Nelson did look good against Utah he only had 27 carries for 147 yards and 2 touchdowns for the season so their is no way he is our true number one going into next season.
