2025 Polls and Rankings

I'd like to think 'Husker fans are smarter than most. I will never understand why people all over sports social media get upset over massive volatility from preseason rankings. Preseason rankings are a complete guess. They have little value other than watercooler talk and online chatter. There should be lots of movement. If the AP voter isn't moving around teams and rocking the boat the first six weeks of the season they are not doing their job to the best of their ability. I have no problem with someone booting Alabama out of the poll entirely or having USF ranked as examples. We have very little data to work with right now. It will all work itself out in time, especially with 12 and soon to be 16, spots.

My post wasn't directed towards you. It was what I saw on Twitter/X today. Lots of people were upset and based some of their arguments on preseason rankings. The Mouse's financial interest in the SEC taught me to ignore the FPI last season.
 
I'm betting most coaches prefer their team getting disrespected in the polls, since every player loves to play the "nobody believed in us but ourselves" card.

Some teams don't handle high expectations well, either.
