You are seriously cherry picking his only and best season over 6 years to indicate what he wants "his system" to be? How do you make sense of that? The 23/24 season shows what Hoiberg wants his system to be. He made a mistake this year and went for positional size over shooting & skill because he thought they were beaten on the boards by "bigger" players. He is now going back to the way he wants play based on the transfers he is bringing in.
His first 4 years of "not his system" won .325 % of the games (40-123). That is so terrible it isn't funny.
This year Hoiberg's "not his system" finished 7-13 in the big ten - becoming one of 3 teams not to make the Big Ten tournament, and finished the regular season with 17-14 record (nice non-conference). The crown tourney saved his a$$. Because NU wasn't going to the NCAA playoffs or NIT. And the Huskers played for money, not Hoiberg and "his system". But they did have a helluva good run in the Crown. Much credit there.
If "his system" doesn't suck, I don't know what to tell you. Especially with Brice gone now.
