2026 QB Anthony Colandrea -> Nebraska

So... in ~30 years there have been two that come to mind. Inclined to think those two are exceptions as the norm is 6'2 or larger to sustain the hits in a season. Really hope Colandrea is another exception, but we need another transfer QB in the fold as an undersized QB in a conference known for oversized players is not an ideal situation.
I know Ganz didn’t play in the BIG but he was 6’1” 210 and that’s a stretch and Casey Thompson was 6’0” 200

If he gets hurt he gets hurt…it damn sure won’t be because he’s under 6’2”

Just ball busting but for real, I think we can do better than the big ten isn’t kind to undersized qbs.

Riaola is plenty good sized…injured. Lateef is the size of a chick pea…injured..beau pribula is a giant…injured. if it happens it happens 🤷‍♂️
You're right, his height won't be the sole reason he gets hurt. However, the larger the QB, the more likely they could fend off tacklers, see over his linemen, etc. The highlights I've seen from him were more scramble-first against the Mountain West. That would a bold strategy if that's our intention next season considering our schedule.

What exactly are your expectations for next year?

Props to Rhule for turning the Munchkin thing around. Munchkin can go pound sand! This AC kid has some moxie. At least that can be fun. We need some OL to protect AC and TJ. That will make a world of difference, and a stud RB and TE while we’re at it!

At minimum a winning record if we're dropping $25+ million on a roster.
There about 50 qbs in the portal that could get us a winning record. We need the others more. This guy will be fine.

Or he won’t and we will suck…I don’t think we will know the difference

Also, that’s a silly reason why we should have a winning record in today’s cfb. Everyone is spending. We aren’t doing anything others aren’t doing. I would say if we were doing 50 mil then yeah we need to be above and beyond.

25 mil…for the whole 105? I’d say we are not spending enough to be serious. Our schedule is nuts and we aren’t spending enough to be seriously considering contending for anything other than 5-6 wins.

I want championships like everyone else on here but we aren’t doing anything unique or earth shattering

I'm trying to follow your logic, but it's contradicting. On one hand you say that spending the $25+ million is a "silly" reason to expect a winning record. But in the next, you suggest we aren't spending "enough to be serious." How many wins would 40, 50, 60 million buy us?

$25 million for the 105 is an average pay of almost $240k per player. I'm not sure how much you think each player should earn or what the average should be, but even with some outliers, these 18-23 year olds are making quite a bit of money.

Bringing the topic back to Colandrea, I hope we did not break the bank for him as we need to find another suitable option at QB and have other holes to fill. Additionally, TJ is an injury risk and Colandrea is the size of Manziel which could make him more susceptible to injury given the monsters we face next year. (Would be really nice if he played as good as Manziel did at A&M though)

Is 7-6 serious? I don’t think so. We are almost close to wanting to be serious about winning again.

Stop complaining about players when we aren’t a serious program rn that’s all I’m saying.

We got a solid qb and saved our precious money to spend on other spots. We won’t spend enough to be relevant next year…and we will lather, rinse, repeat next offseason

I’m really not trying to be rude I genuinely like most of your posts. I just don’t see the need to take a shot at height of a qb that won’t matter in the grand scheme of things. I think he will do well but we have so many holes and not enough bullets in the chamber to fill them. Ty for being civil I hope I did the same

We are spending just as much, if not more than 75% of the teams on next year's schedule. Plenty enough to justify at least a winning record.

Ah so the height bit is what got under your skin? My concern with his height is that he will be facing some rather large fellas next year and our intention to a more mobile QB system combined with our track record of injuries at QB, I would have preferred to have a larger presence that would be more likely to absorb some of the hits. I really hope he is nimble, shifty, and wise enough to avoid many of them as we do not have a stable of talent behind him and TJ.

Reminds me of the Martinez/Gebbia issue from Frost's first year. Gebbia bails, Martinez gets hurt, and we start Andrew Bunch two games into Frost's tenure. At this point, if TJ or Colandrea were to get hurt, our only backup option is walk-on Bode Soukup.

fwiw...we are going to pick up at least 1 more qb for a backup.

Remember, he’s been 5’11 or 6’ for a while now. He’s used to it. He’ll be fine. And we will still win 5-7 games 😆
