I figured this small class is a huge signal we are going all in on the portal. Rhule talked about having NIL money. That is the only excuse I see for the lack of HS recruiting in this class. The DC must be a homerun hire and the portal must be a homerun. We have to do this just to keep up in the Big 10 arms race.

The 27 class isn't going to matter at all if we don't improve in 26. It's weird to entirely skip/mail in a recruiting class. You should always be able to find a handful of guys that can contribute, if not next year then in 27 when the class you are actually trying with are freshman.

If I remember correctly Colorado and Deion were mocked for doing exactly what we are doing this year with the transfers when he brought in all those transfers in his first year and was told money can't buy wins.

Roster limit hurting this class. Took a bunch of recruits the 1st couple years. Got to cut down a lot. I agree they needed to get more top end prospects in this class.

We're probably going to go really hard in the portal. I don't like that approach, but we can't have a class of just 9. Especially since we lost Dayton as our only quarterback...

I don't know if I agree with that assessment.
When you rank by the average player score, we rank 22nd in the country. We've also got only the 2nd or 3rd, depending on if you count Steinkuhler, 5 star recruit in the last 20+ years in the class. We just don't have enough room, especially when Rhule knows we need guys that can come in and contribute now.

The 26 class is small (by design) but the quality is also not very good let’s be real. They struck out on most of the big fish minus a few. They are definitely going portaling.
Glaringly: 0 DL are going to sign and no QB. That is totally unacceptable even with the class size.

It's a fair criticism overall. But there's a big difference between taking a small HS class and swinging big on the portal when you still have a returning roster of 80+ players, and what Deion is doing having as many transfers as returning players. He's had 30+ transfers in each year, we're not doing that.

Our class is ok. Odem could a contrubutor as fresh. & the wrs & TE will contribute in 27. Like you said, we struck out on some players, which we are going to look for in the portal. Our QB just left & I'm sure we are working on that now but I will agree DL is a concern.

2 4 stars, 2 high 3 stars, 2 athletic 3 star wr. 6 out of 9. The other 3 are projects, a NE recruit in a bad talent year & 2 back up plans. We are not going to get all 4 & 5 star players.
