247: 23 Most Indispensable Huskers for 2023

Then again, you have the NFL proving that pretty much every RB is replaceable. The Vikings just released Dalvin Cook, and the San Francisco 49ers have had one of the best running attacks for several seasons now, each year a different no-name, undrafted, and/or free agent as the leading rusher. When the first two RBs get injured, and they always do, the third stringer come in and puts up the same numbers. Seems like the offensive line and scheme has something to do with it.
Glad the 49ers can squeak by with no name guys like Christian McCaffery

In-season acquisition McCaffery was preceded by leading rushers:

Carlos Hyde (2017)

Matt Breida (2018)

Raheem Mostert (2019)

Jeff Wilson (2020)

Elijah Mitchell (2021)

McCaffery's three back-ups in 2022 (two of them undrafted free agents, the other a sixth rounder) had more collective yards than McCaffery and each had a better ypc. Thrilled to have McCaffery, who is genuinely special, but clearly the system is designed for RB success.

Farmer does not need to start. I saw way too much of him out of position last year and piss poor tackling. He just isn’t that good.
