5 Bold Predictions for Taylor Martinez

I still haven't given up on Brion Carnes either. I don't know if the coaches have, but this guy has got skills too and should be seeing the field a hell of a lot more this year. Can't wait til' Nebraska moves on with it's offense. We are starting to get some of the tools Beck needs to accomplish some things.

That sound you heard was the engine on the bandwagon firing up for 2013 when everyone wants Johnny Stanton to start.

Again...he's a junior this year. 2 years under his belt. He's clearly been working hard in the off-season. Practically brought Stanton in. I remember hearing his first post-game interviews. My lord, what a disaster. But he's matured like most teens eventually do, and he's now, really, the least of my worries.

1) Barney...as usual, you're on the clock.

2) Receivers...as usual...catch the damn ball.

This 'blame Martinez' crap is really getting old. Even if he progresses just a little bit, it should be enough to have a good season...IF...the other pieces around him can get their stuff together.

Gonna transfer I believe! Don't blame him! I've been saying this was gonna go down back when we got TAs commitment. And now with J StNtons commit. If either one can grasp the offense quickly, Brion may become a casualty.

Well, Tommy is a true freshman this year. He'll redshirt (at least, I should hope so), meaning he'll be a redshirt freshman when Brion is a junior. That's plenty of distance between them. Stanton will be a true freshman next year, which means he'll be a redshirt freshman when Brion is a senior

I don't think either of them have much to do with Brion potentially being a casualty. The issue, if any exists, is if he continues to be unable to beat out Taylor. Only one year between them and I can understand Brion not wanting to wait until his senior year for a chance to start. If it's true that there's not even a competition right now and they are just shoring up all the reps for Taylor to get him up to speed...yeah, that gives us the best Taylor possible, but that is a bit of a raw deal for Brion.

If he decides to go the good soldier route I can definitely see him starting as a senior. But if he leaves, then Tommy would look at this point to be the heir apparent as a 3rd-year sophomore. Not the worst thing in the world. Got to feel pretty solid about the QB depth, for the first time in some time...

(not that it is super important. I can't think of any articles handy at the moment to refer to. And the main point anyway is our depth is quite nice for the near future.)

Brion's problem is he struggles reading a defense. That's why he can't beat out TM.
was sitting next to a booster at the bar a couple months ago and he said the same thing. said Brion was dumb as a post and would likely never see the field at Nebraska. didn't have the work ethic, etc.

surprised the heck out of me, because I'd always kind of been pulling for the kid and hadn't really heard anything negative come out - then again you don't see him in the game when he could be either.

Oh yeah zoogies, he can't practice worth a a sh* t but yet " it's a raw deal for Brion".

Who cares if it's a run or passing play? So what? Bo s*cks!! Tmart s*cks!! Beck s*cks!! Zoogies, be real...just this once.....are you "really" Hujan?

Oh yeah, Frost, Frazier & Crouch was all all "s*cked" according to the internet genius crowd. After all, what could Bo or Beck know more than them??

Brion needs to realize he's one injury away from being QB1. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he transfers though, QB transfers seem to be common these days. It's probably a good idea to try and pick up a decent QB every year in recruiting.

Well, I believe I heard it from da' skers for one... It's also been discussed on a couple premium boards.

But yeah, any depth at QB is a plus.

Brion can't practice worth a sh*t? Look who's playing loosey goosey with the facts. From you, bshirt, I'm surprised.

I also said if it is true that as da skers once posted, Taylor is getting a huge part of the reps and there wasn't a wide open audition for the spot through spring practice. That sucks for the next guy in line if he's only one year behind him and wants the job. Maybe it's entirely fair that he doesn't get reps because there is just that vast gulf of distance between them. In which case, as I said, he can a) be a good soldier or b) look elsewhere if he really wants to start.

I'm sort of surprised at this too, because you used to reject pretty vocally and strongly any information that came from "some message board." I don't think this is the first time I've pointed it out when you yourself posted message board fodder as fact, and I don't mean to go after you, but it is quite the double standard any way you slice it. I did wonder if it has been discussed by the coaches, though, and maybe it has...
