What exactly is the arguing about?

Our Husker site has devolved into an argument about who was a better coach at Oregon State in the mid-2000s.  It is really kind of dumb thing to argue about, because it has no bearing on the future of our current program but,  people continue to beat the sh#t out of this dead horse.

unlfan is trying to convince us that Riley is a bad coach. Somehow Dennis Erickson being a better coach makes that case. The argument is whether DE is really a better coach than MR. Did I miss anything?
I know you are being sarcastic a bit here, but you did miss something.

There are some of us who were never happy about the hiring of MR.

One of the justifications for that lack of support for MR is his coaching career elsewhere.

Supporters of MR make excuses that he couldn't win in Corvallis because....well...it's Corvallis

Others point out that Dennis Erickson was able to do better in Corvallis than MR

I pointed out that Leach is doing better in Pullman than MR did in Corvallis and Pullman is as hard a place or maybe even harder place to win
Others countered that Leach is no more than a .500 coach there

I pointed out that Leach's program is trending in a positive direction and that MR was trending in a losing direction (29 - 33) the last few years before he was hired at NU

....and others just want to get out there magnifying glasses and knit pick EVERY FREAKING POINT someone tries to make.

I think that should pretty much catch you up.

I believe this thread has run its course.

Sharing differing opinions on Nebraska's head coach is welcome, but not to the extent it has devolved to in this thread.
