12/30/09 till 9/04/10 is like an eternity for a Cornhusker fan. Week 1 is FINALLY here! Western Kentucky went 0-12 in 2009 which might make them look like a cream puff on paper, but they gave some teams a close call. 49-68 against North Texas, 23-29 against Florida Atlantic, 20-24 against Arkansas State. In a way, they may embrace the role of underdog. They have nothing to lose against Nebraska and everything to gain. Sure, this may be a win against a Sunbelt team, but Western Kentucky isn't going to just lay down and die either. I hope Nebraska doesn't just keep it on cruise control, but rather that they shift into high gear for most of the game, and this will probably be a game where we see a lot of backups play. I am so happy I'll be able to watch the game, I don't know yet if my family is getting the PPV, or if I'll be at a bar watching, but I know I'll be decked in Husker gear, and I'll be cheering with many other Cornhusker Fans. This is the end of the Big XII era for Nebraska. Now is the season for making the positive statement on who's THE PROGRAM of the Big XII. Then we head onto the Big 10.
