9 Things and One Crazy Prediction

I heard on 810 or 610 radio this morning a clip of the KU basketball coach saying that had Texas moved to the Pac10 leaving the Big12 to fall apart, the remaining North schools had a home in the Big East. From the way he (Bill Self) talked it was a done deal and were just waiting on Texas to make their decision.

What's so amusing is listening to the KC media now talk about how staying was the best move for the kansas/missouri schools. That TCU is a fool for leaving for the big east as now there are more teams to play. WTH? Why wouldn't TCU want the Big East and Vice Versa. The big east is getting hammered this year for their BCS bid and adding a quality school should quiet some critics. TCU now gets a chance to make the big dance. Meanwhile loud mouth Boise can't do anything right.

Maybe the Big XII will simply just bring in South Dakota St. & UNO so that they can just blast the north as they have for the last decade.

And as we Nebraska fans kick back with our games on TV and our liberation from the Texas hegemony, I will relish the complete annihilation of the most corrupt and moronic league in college athletics.
Did he just f*cking say hegemony???
Yes, he just dropped the H-Bomb.

I get a chance once...maybe twice a season to bust out the big gun. Better believe I'm using it. :)

The Big 12 should be done in 3-4 years. The SEC is probably going to grow to 16. The pac 10 the same. I think the Big 10 may only add Notre Dame and one other (let's hope it is not Texas) and I doubt it would be them. They can not throw their weight around with those schools.

We are going to see some major re-alignment coming soon.

Glad NU took the offer that we got from the Big 10. Great move for academics as well as athletics!
I see ND eventually accepting their position in the modern world and joining w/ the Big10 as well. I also think Missouri will eventually end up joining for the TV market, and geographical fit. Personally, I wouldn't mind that the least bit. If still around, I could see Tom pulling for them in Big10 meetings. They'll have a better chance of getting an invite now that NU is there.

Texas goes independent, Baylor, Tech, A&M, Oklahoma to the SEC. KSU/KU to the Big8 where they can both concentrate on their basketball programs, and be competitive in football. That just leaves poor ol' Iowa State shoppin for a conference. I see the Pac10 expanding w/ Boise/Nevada, etc.

Arkansas joining the big 12? Ha, not a chance. I am glad we are leaving the Big 12. It is going downhill. And it is going down fast.

agree with most that was said here, other than the Big 12 and or TCU screwed up by not courting each other. TCU had nothing to offer the Big 12 it didnt already have. The Big East, academically and socially, is much better for TCU as a whole. And travel? Its not much farther than they were traveling before, and anyone that travels much knows its nearly half as much to bounce out to the east coast as it is to the BFE's they were humping to before, especially with DFW out their back door.
Here's how I think it went down. TCU didn't want to be the whipping boy in the Big 12. Does anyone really believe they have even remotely the kind of success they're enjoying now if they are in the Big 12 especially the south? The Big Easy is the poorest excuse for an automatic qualifying conference there is. TCU goes up there and beats up on a bunch of horrible teams, and they get to keep their instate recruiting intact. Obviously with automatic qualifying status, they immidiately draw better athletes in Texas away from Texas, OU, Baylor, A&M, etc. TCU has become a household name. If the Big 12 had any thought of maintaining the conference, they should have tried to get TCU. I don't blame TCU for jumping to the Big Easy and not wanting into the Big 12, but I don't understand the Big 12 not courting TCU. The big downfall to all of this is that I don't see the Big Easy standing the test of time with the four mega conferences.

Agree. There is nothing to be gained by the Big 12 in remaining with ten teams. It costs the conference millions of dollars every year they don't have a Conference Championship Game. This nonsense about being happy they don't play a CCG anymore is stupid - they want and need the money. There is zero doubt in my mind that the Big 12 will be looking to expand, and TCU was a logical choice. The rest of the list is... what? Houston? BYU?

They'll get laughed at by any SEC team they approach - the revenue is far greater in the SEC. They won't lure anyone away from the Big 10, Pac-10 or Big East. This is a conference desperately in need of an infusion of teams, but without much ability to go out and get it.

TCU most definitely got a knock on their door from Beebe, and quite clearly said, "No, thank you."

There is very little chance this conference survives the next five years.
