95 Skers greatest all time? VOTE ON ESPN

I hope Texas throttles USC like LSU is doing to Miami.  :steam
Agreed. I think they will to. :cheers
agree. but you know what's kind of sad. I want Texas to win but not b/c I don't like USC. I actually like USC a lot more than I like the Longhorns! from what i've heard USC has great fans, they seem to have a classy program and what they've accomplished the last few years is certainly impressive. no doubt they are a good team, though not even remotely as good as ESPN is hyping them.

but that's just it.

really, I want them to lose b/c of the media hype. which is not any of USC's doing. anyone else feel that way?

it doesn't even seem to be the LA media as much as ESPN, but at least that would be understandable as its the "local" team.

there was an article about a month or so ago from an LA paper saying that 2005 isn't even USC's best team ever- they gave that nod to their '72 squad.

I know there's been a lot of "ESPN is evil" posts and vibes on this board lately but just tonight, it seemed like every time i turned back to SportsCenter USCUSCUSCUSCUSCUSCUSC. its just numbing and tiresome.

and think about it, this is for a Pac10 team. can anyone even fathom the ESPN coverage if this were a Big 10 team?!

I'm curious how Texas fans feel about all the USC hype. they've got to be even more sick of it than we are.

Trojan Farce

GREAT article!

one thing though:

the Trojans have dispensed with history's great football juggernauts with greater ease than they dispatched, say, the 2005 Fresno State Bulldogs.
The 2002 Miami Hurricanes were overrated because the 2001 Hurricanes were genuinely awesome. (So awesome, in fact, that the ESPN crew actually acknowledged that the 2001 'Canes would give USC a good game.)
he appropriately points out USC's close win over Fresno State this year... but with the same method with which he is trashing USC 2005, could we also call 2001 Boston College "almost genuinely awesome" for almost beating Miami 2001?

He does a great job of putting the '05 Trojans in their spot but then overhypes Miami 2001. that article had been going so well up to that point too.

The 2005 Trojans have a ratio of 2.3, which is not terribly impressive for a national championship team. Last year's USC team had a ratio of 2.9. The 1997 Michigan team had a 3.1, and the 1991 Washington Huskies outscored their opponents 4.6 to 1—twice the ratio of this year's Trojans.
sounds like Rojo-math over on Huskerpedia-- anyone figure what ratio Nebraska '95 and '71 would be?
