A Badger's Experience With Husker Fans

I had the pleasure of meeting many Husker fans before the game at our tailgate party, at ESPN Game Day, in the stadium, and after the game. We enjoyed sharing a beer or two (in some cases a lot more than that) with some of them. (Most of them had no idea what a brandy old fashion was, but we'll work on that next time.) The vast majority of Husker fans we ran into were universally pleasant and passionate about Husker football, were happy to be in the Big 10, and happy to be in Madison. The fans we ran into were all great embassadors for the state of Nebraska and for Husker football. I'm sure they were all disappointed with the way the game turned out, and I regret to say I'm sure some of them ran into some embarrassingly rude fan behavior along the way. I hope they enjoyed their visit none the less. Nebraska fans are great football fans. I truly believe that vast majority of Badger and Husker fans are good, like-mided folks, sharing a passion for their football teams. Both teams' fans can get a bit cocky, but that comes with success, I guess. As far the outcome of this particular game, I know the teams were much closer matched than the score indicated, but I'll enjoy it while I can since I know the roles will be reversed down the road as the rivalry proceeds.

Our two programs have a lot of similarities. We don't have the National titles NU has, not yet anyway, but we do share a passion for the game, and a rich tradition. We are glad to welcome Nebraska to the Big 10. You are a great fit, and I for one will be cheering for you the rest of the way(until we meet in Indianapolis that is!) Go Huskers!

All in all, I get the impression that the majority of Husker and Badger fans got along just fine Saturday night.

Congrats on the win, your Badgers took our Huskers to the woodshed.
