i have never understood why they could not just move the superbowl to saturday. i know sunday is nfl day, but come on. they have a week to prepare, let us party without the specter of monday. also, what is the deal with the mnc being on monday, that is even worse.

I think changing President's Day to the day after the Super Bowl would be nice. Would the president have the power to change a holiday from the executive office, or would it have to be approved by Congress?

It thing the National Championship on Monday is a revenue grab. If you think about it, after the game, all there pretty much is to do is go home. I know when my parents attended some bowl games in the 90's, they had board flights literally within 3-4 hours of the game ended. If you had that game on a saturday, there would not be as much money spent in the city on sunday, whereas, being on Monday, you have a full blown party/spending atmosphere all day on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.

thanks, i guess i meant extra week. like, they always get a week, they are giving a week for the superbowl, so moving it ahead a day does not eat into their usual week. what i typed did not match what i was thinking, per usual.

 
If the NFL went to an 18 game regular season, they could move the Super Bowl to the Sunday before President's Day. Just a thought.

 
I have promoted moving Martin Luther King Day to the Mon. after the Super Bowl for years it is always within a week or two anyway. Seems to make good sense to me. Not sure how the Black American community would feel about it though. As for the MNC they have screwed that up so bad nothing will ever fix it including a play off which I have never been in favor of.
