A Rod

Yes he is much different. Not even close. Lance Armstrong at least won his titles while pulling his BS. ARod's pretty much been an overrated, over paid pile of crap since first stepping foot on Yankee soil.

 
After final decision in A-rod PED case (arbitrator, MLB union, fed court, etc), he will be 48 years old, not 38. "Better call Saul!"

I wonder if A-Rod has figured out that despite the PED's, he's washed up and no one, including the Yankees organization, his teammates, fans, hot dog vendors, etc. want him anywhere near baseball again? Apparently not in A-Rod's 'I'm still a God' world. Just leave, dude. Go back to shacking up with grandma Madonna.

 
I just find the story lines very similar.

In an effort of full disclosure, I used to be a HUGE fan of Lance Armstrong's. At one time, I ran triathlons and always looked up to what he was able to accomplish on a bike. When all his crap broke, I wanted to believe him but over time, obviously, he was lying. Thing is, I believe everyone at the top of that sport does what Lance did, he was just better at it. Anyway, his biggest down fall in my eyes was how he treated people around him when they were telling the truth and he was lying through his teeth trying to fight it.

NOW, it appears we have A Rod and everyone around him is saying...dude, we know you were doing it. But, he keeps fighting it and denying everything. I'm wondering what he is doing behind the scenes to the people that are speaking the truth about him.

This guy just needs to fess up and move on with life.

I think most of us felt that way. I mean, Armstrong was one of the most inspiring stories in sports and one of the most dominating athletes ever. The dude was an absolute icon of all things that were good about sport and humanity, until things came crashing down. Now he's a lesson in idolatry and being careful with your heroes.

In contrast, A Rod was never inspirational. Just another good athlete who turned out to be self-destructive.

I would have a high amount of respect for him if he, like many others, would just stand up and say "yeah, i used. So did a lot of others. I got caught up in trying to gain and edge, at a time when it pretty normal, and for that matter, unrestricted. I'm sorry.", and then take his millions upon millions and then walk away. But he seems to be even more concerned with his image and that's just stupid, becuase he obviously doesnt understand what respect some heartfelt honesty can get you. And that is sad for the man.

This is what I wanted Lance to do. I was fine with him fighting it for a while. That's normal. But, at some point, he should have said...."OK...I did this. I love this sport and I want to turn my efforts to cleaning it up because everyone does it and it obviously damages the sport."

I would have more respect for him if he would have done that.
