A USC's fan prediction

I remember with distinct clarity how all the talking heads predicted that UF would run and pass NU into the ground on natural turf. That was 95 uhhhh nope. . . .wrong.

All I know is I hope that USC is underestimating Nebraska as much as the fan that wrote the original post. And I can guarantee this will probably be the loudest crowd ever at Memorial Stadium. I for one will be there helping as much as I can. :bonez

I barely know where to start.....first of all I would like to nominate that guy for Dusche Bag of the Year......seriously. Tarheeltrojan on the other hand does try to take a more objective, thoughtful approch, and I have to give him credit for that.(still wrong though) If you think that losing DJ and SS at WR isnt going to matter, youre kidding yourself. Even though USC had great RBs to replace Bush and White, their running game was affected by thier absence. USC will successfully use thier O-line to lean on our D-line in the rushing game because thats the biggest mismatch, but to say the D-linemen are all inexperienced just isnt true, they have all been on the field before. Barry Turner was a freshmen AA and Suh was a second team AC. NU's O-line will be good enough to compete with (certainly not dominate) USC's front seven to keep enough of a running game going to keep them honest. To say that USC's secondary will not be tested is (besides the final score) the most rediculous thing in that post. USC's front 7 are the best in the country, which makes thier secondary (even though they are very good) the weakest spot of thier defense, and thats where Keller and our great group of WR's will need to attack. Even in your Arkansas example there was a 20 point swing and Arkansas sure as hell is'nt Memorial Stadium. To say NU's fans won't be a big enough factor shows you have no idea who you are dealing with, that will be the loudest most crazy stadium possibly of any game all year anywhere. Will it be a tough game.....yes. Could NU lose....yes. But to call the blow out is just lazy and ignorant. Even the mighty Huskers of the 90's lost a couple....and so will the Trojans. well, i admire your optimism, but our "great wide receivers" have yet to display any consistency (except for one who is consistently arrested) and our O line will most certainly struggle against one of the top D lines in the country. our only realistic chance is several key turnovers. finally, as has been said, we just don't have the team speed to play with these guys. i am hoping for the best, but this team is 2-3 years away from playing with the top programs.

Its not that youre fundamentally wrong, its just the points that you are coming up with are IMO exagerated, our WR's , our O line vs thier D line, and the team speed gap is there but just not to the extent for people to call this massacre bull$hit.

Pride cometh before the fall is exactly right. The fundamental difference I see between the type of USC "dominance" today and the kind you saw with Nebraska in the 90s is Nebraska were merely stronger, faster, and more powerful in all areas. USC, while fast––most assuredly––seems to me a team based mostly around specialists like Jarret, Smith, Bush, etc. If their team really outclassed everyone so much, then how come they're brought down to the wire while playing all but useless teams?

In any case, I love to hear the SC fans prophecy on the street corner balls in hand. It just makes it that much more pleasurable watching their pompous over-hyped program get smashed by some second-tier team who's hungry. Just watch. This season will be like Rocky III for the Condoms. You guys have done a fine job keeping Nebraska's throne warm, but careful now, we're just about home.

And USC must be razed to the ground.

i might be viewing the world through rose colored glasses, but i just dont see this happening in Lincoln. While NU needs to play its "A" game there is always a chance. that is why you play the game

this will be a close game just like the UT game last year IMO

Just to play devil's advocate here, let's say that the worst happens and USC scores 2 quick TD's in the first 5-10 minutes of the game. I hate to say it, but even though we are still in that game by all means, that would probably decimate the crowd, rendering our home field advantage useless until we started clawing back. In this game though, we can not afford to get behind and have the crowd taken out of it.

Also another thing I was thinking as I've read people's responses, I can understand why USC fans are confident as this game to them probably looks A LOT like the Arkansas game of last year. Look at the results of that game. I don't think that will happen, but I'm just trying to taking their perspective.

For most USC fans I would expect that, but not informed "Husker Fans". (For some people in this thread I use that term very loosly) <_< Sometimes its not being realistic its just being negative.

I can at least understand the logic behind the athlete comparisons........but home field becoming ineffective? One of the biggest matchups we'll face all year, in Lincoln, on ESPN, at night! And you think the crowd will just fizzle out over 14 points? You're crazy! It will be F**kin NUTS! Booty may pee a little!

Believe me, I will be there. I will be yelling my loudest the whole game no matter the score. I'm sure you've been to a game before, it's not 80,000 screaming 23 year olds like myself. There's probably at least 30,000 or more people there who are over 60. Not a knock on the older generation, I just don't see them going, "F**kin NUTS," especially if we get down early. It's just my opinion, I don't think it's a crazy one.

I was there for the Texas game in 2002, I know how crazy it can get, but I've never been to a home game where we were down big, so I'm just trying to predict how the crowd might act.

wow, after doling out the grades i thought his prediction was going to be more like...35-21 or something! he is crazy to think they will score 40!

the only thing i disagree with besides the score is the rating for our linebackers and WR's. i would say B+ for both. i mean, all of our backers are seniors and we have the same wideout group for about 3 years now. if we keep it close and get a couple turnovers we will win.

it's all about turnovers for this game.
