Those are the fumbles I remember that AA lost. But as the Comish said I do recall quite a few muffs/mishandles in the return game(especially punts) that led to missed return opportunities.Edit: Really hard to find fumble numbers. I wonder why that stat isn't tracked as closely? I remember one fumble against Washington, USC, and Wyoming. There are others.
I'd chalk a lot of those up to Freshmen nerves. Those will go away as the game slows down for him. Those are the fumbles I remember that AA lost. Seems most of the mishandles in the punt/kick department camemiddle to later in the season to me knapp. Would chalk it up more to him trying to make a play before he had the ball than jitters.I'd chalk a lot of those up to Freshmen nerves. When a guy only touches the ball 24 times all season, fumbling every 12 touches isn't absolutely horrible. :dunnoI read recently that on average he fumbled the ball every 12 touches. I don't see the article right now, but I'll see if I can find it.
"Abdullah eager to make a sophomore jump."
Anyone else disappointed that the article didn't name the Sophomore Abdullah wants to make jump? Or why he wants to make anyone jump at all?
This is just shoddy reporting.
Except he had 42 rushes and 41 returns so the amount of fumbles would be quite a bit more. When a guy only touches the ball 24 times all season, fumbling every 12 touches isn't absolutely horrible. :dunnoI read recently that on average he fumbled the ball every 12 touches. Does that stat count all fumbles including the ones that are recovered or just the ones that were lost?

Only thing is AA didn't have the ball in his hands near as much......He was a true freshman last year, so a few fumbles were to be expected. Besides, he didn't put the ball on the turf as much as Taylor did his freshman year. AA is one of the players that I am most excited about.
I'm rewatching much of last year's games and in the first half of the Michigan State game Abdullah put the ball on the turf twice - once on a muffed punt return and once on a decent kick return. Thankfully neither were lost, but this may support your theory that most happened later in the year.Seems most of the mishandles in the punt/kick department camemiddle to later in the season to me knapp. Would chalk it up more to him trying to make a play before he had the ball than jitters.I'd chalk a lot of those up to Freshmen nerves.
