Abdullah fastest Husker to 1000 all purpose yards?

NUance

Assistant Coach
Will Ameer Abdullah be the fastest Husker to 1000 all purpose yards? He's at 816 all purpose yds right now after six games as a true frosh.

Also are you wanting to know number of games or year in school?

If number of games Rozier did it in 7 in 1983.

If you mean year of school then I would assume he has to be one of the fastest.

Year in school. There can't be many guys faster to 1000 yds than Abdullah as a true frosh. At any school.

When did TM get to a 1000 last year? He had to have been there before 6-7 games wasn't he?? Think he had 1000 against Washington alone :D Not to mention he had played the Washington and KSU games within the firtst 5 games of the season.

I may be wrong but All Purpose yards don't count passing yards so Martinez never did get 1000.

Deon Long and Sammy Watkins both did it in 6 games this year, so I imagine it isn't all that rare as far as the FBS goes. But I doubt a Husker freshman has surpassed a thousand that quickly. Ahman Green has the current record, and it took him around 10 games to hit 1000.

Unrelated but slightly humorous: Niles Paul holds the Husker record for most yards per touch over one season: 17.5 ypt in 2009. Johnny Rodgers had 15.0 ypt in 1971.

Watkins might be a true freshman, but I don't think Long is. I'm sure other true freshman have racked up yards as fast as Abdullah. But it's pretty rare.

Imagine if Abdullah ended up starting at RB later in his career. The All-Purpose career record is 5586 (Rodgers)

True, but what's the significance of whether or not they redshirted? Either way they got to 1000 six games into their career.

Not too many RS freshman even see the field. Let alone rack up 1k yds in half a season. That year of redshirt training counts for a lot.

The whole point of this thread is that what Abdullah is doing is pretty special. Which I'm sure all would agree with.

Heck yeah, it's special as hell. What a talent.....whew!

It's just wild how much outrageous young offensive talent we have. It seems they've just exploded out of nowhere! I don't know how much of that is just a coincidence, the new coaches or the stars aligning correctly for us but it's sure fun to watch.

GBR!!
