Adding fuel to the fire----A&M Style

i live in Texas and have been to numerous A&M games. All i can say is their is a reason Aggies are the butt of most of the jokes.

The games are cool but they think they are the only ones with a cool atmosphere. Personally I dont get the band thing or the all guy cheerleaders waving towels bending over.

If your not an alumni of A&M of live outside of Texas than nobody really cares about A&M. its a tough pill to swallow for their fans
Eh, I don't think we're the only ones with a cool atmosphere, but I'm sure it's not unique to Aggies to think they have the best game day experience, best traditions, or best fans - hopefully everyone feels that way about their own school. If you're not going to pump yourself up, who will? I just got back from my first LSU experience in Death Valley, and I'll be the first to say the Tigers' tailgating >>>> Aggie tailgaiting though. Those people are SERIOUS.

As far as our band and yell leaders, it stems from A&M originally being a military college. It only became a "normal" university in the 60's. That tradition doesn't just disappear.

That is odd, at Midnight before Husker games when I'm able to get a ticket, I'm usually found doing the "O Street Crawl". Is cheering that bad they have to practice?

We have "practice" yell at midnight before the game in the stadium. It's a five minute walk from the Northgate bars to the stadium, so it's just a fun tradition and only takes about 30 minutes out of your night and then you're back at the bar. The Yell Leaders tell a bunch of really corny stories about A&M or our opponent, then we go through our yells and then the lights go out, during which you kiss your date (called "mugging down") or hold up a lighter to find a date so you CAN mug ;)

Visitors are more than welcome - Texas Tech fans love to come and pretend to read newspapers the whole time. It's fun as an Aggie; whether it's interesting otherwise depends on you.

Here's some video Huskers fan took before the last Nebraska game.

Hump it (or Humping it)During a yell, the crowd leans forward and places their hands on their knees to maximize the noise and so that those standing behind them can see.
Maybe Nebraska needs to start humping more, to bring up the noise at home games!
They are doing this so those standing behind can see. If we do this it would eliminate or loudest stadium cheer.

Down In Front!!!!

Reading the comments on that article, I think it's funny that other fans call us "bugeaters" as an..insult apparently? I'm proud of that old name personally.

Pelini: Big Red is better than 12th ManBy David Ubben

Earlier this week, Nebraska coach Bo Pelini compared the atmosphere at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln during Saturday's win over Kansas to that of a scrimmage, and Tuesday, shrugged off any fans who were put off by his assessment.

"It was just an observation. I'm not talking about that anymore. It's over and done with," he said. "There are going to be some fans that are always a little disgruntled."

Later, he gave a frank comparison of the two fan bases, making a few more friends in Nebraska and losing a few in East Texas.

"Our fans are better than the Aggie fans," Pelini said. "They have a good culture around their program. They support it well. They're into it. It's a unique environment. I don't know what they call that, I know they have some type of thing on Friday night, like cheer practice or whatever, so there are certain unique traditions with every program, and I think they have their own. They do a good job with it."

Just a guess, but the 20-30,000 fans who show up to Midnight Yell Practice on Friday might be hearing this one again from the yell leaders, known for picking on opponents to fire up the fans the night before the game. LINK

I can assure you all that Kyle Field will be absolutely insane on Saturday night. Discount the power of the 12th Man in Kyle Field at your own demise

Usually that place is pretty loud anyways, and it seems like the fan base is a little extra filred up for this game.

Maybe, just maybe, Bo is pouring a gallon of gas on the fire because he knows the Cornhuskers step it up in a hostile environment. I keep having this feeling that T Magic is back at 100 percent and he and Helu and company run all over around and through the aTm D, while the Blackshirts play lights out.
