After Game Thoughts

Granted he did lose the ball, Cory was not given a chance tonight. I dont know where those fumbles came from, he has always been a reliable back. But there is no way you can blame anything more than that on him, it was like he dint even have a line there to block at all.

I do not recall the TE play, but I clearly recall Todd having a clear shot to the end zone, and he falls down after catching a ball thrown on the money.

No, Cory litteraly dropped the ball tonight. It's a backs job to protect the football and he didn't. He did a horrible job keeping it tucked in and in his ribs. He had it away from his body most of the night, and that's why it popped out so much.

 
First game of the year, we didn't show a lot of what BC intends to show in the future and w/o the turnovers we win by 5 TD's at least

Get the redzone offense in gear and we aren't talking about the negatives here

It is all good, Huskers will win the Big 12 North another step back to their past dominates :thumbs :thumbs

 
All I have to say is that I expect a big game from Cory next saturday, even with this O-line....no way a leader and captain like that is going to have those mistakes happen again.

 
Whatever you do, don't give any credit to Maine's defense, you corn bred Bubbas.

Your announcers and fans are arrogant SOBs....and who knows why? Your team hasn't done jack sh*t for years now........ :lame

 
Sorry we cant live up to the dynasty Maine has had lately....And I would hate to hear what you think everyone else's fans are like if we are arrogant.

Meh I would be sour too if my QB was sacked 11 TIMES! By the way the next time you see the Maine QB ask him how our stadium lights looked since thats about the only thing he seen the entire game while laying on his back! :clap

well it was the first game in a full house against a live defense that isnt your own. I expected some slip ups. We have a lot of work to do with our offense and hopefully now that the new guys know what its like to play under the lights of Memorial Stadium they will improve and become more comfortable with the live gameday environment. if we lose to wake then i am gonna say "uh-oh."

 
Two words about this offense -- mental preparation.

Cos had his boys fired up from the get-go, because frankly, he has something to prove this year after getting torched so many times last year. It showed. Thru 3 quarters the Nebraska D played with fire and passion I couldn't help but love. OTOH, the offense...

...was it a carry over from the spring game? The squad set the world on fire, expected Maine to roll over and what happened? The offense was knocked around and had mental mistake after mental mistake. One led to another, and so on.

In a way, it is the coaches fault for not getting this offense up and prepared even for an opponent the likes of Maine. In a way, it isn't. Stupid mistakes by Cory Ross, a couple bad decisions by ZT and dropped passes out the wazoo. These are things that are basic to the game of football, and shows why these guys were not mentally into this game from the get go. One mistake compounded, and no one could shake it off.

Hopefully no one expects Wake to just rull over. An up and coming ACC squad coming into Lincoln in their first big nationally televised game? This won't be the same Wake team as last week considering they will have All-ACC back, Chris Barclay back in the fold.

Hopefully Wake isn't Southern Miss of last year.

 
:yeah Cally better get the O line into some run blocking drills, besides pass protection, with our backs there is no way you pass on the opponents 1 yard line.....that is basic football 101, period!! we need to establish the run first, then throw the ball when the backers have to come up to stop the run........
