Aim low and you'll always hit your goal

This loss was a disappointment, but it was one loss. There are still tough games to play and it's not the end of the season much less the end of the world. Although this loss was a bump in the road I still beleive the Huskers are moving in the right direction. We've got some outstanding players, recruiting is good, etc. etc. Everyone knows we still have some weakness that can be taken advantage of. We'll continue to improve over the next couple years. Heck, Tom Osborn's years had plenty of rough times in between the glory years.

Winning the North is acceptable this year but we shouldn't place any limitations on these goals. We have not won the North since 99' so as sorry of a goal it is to win the North we have finished short for 6+ years. Lets get their this year we still have a shot of beating Texas especially after healing up some players on these bye weeks coming up.
Oh brother!!!!!!!!!! Look, NU has NO shot at beating Texas. Texas is NOT Troy. Geeeeez! Look at the key stats - we cannot win against any team that doesn't stink! How we gonna beat a team that is ranked? When was the last time we beat a top ten team? We aren't even in that class - we aren't even ranked anymore - we need to quit acting like the rest of the losers in the Big 12 - we're NU for God's sakes! Fans here say "We played great in all those losses, so we are just as good as those real good teams - they're no better than us!" ...........Except they are ranked and can win important games against real competition, and not just the loser teams they trounce.

I really had hoped we would seek more than incremental and cahracter-building "gains" from all these losses. We suck! We won't return to prominence until we beat tough teams, and that ain't gonna happen with this bunch.

We had our chance, but sucked against the tough teams - I don't think we get any love for "almost" winning -"almost" is for losers......

Attainable goals is the key here in this thread. I don't like the Huskers losing any more than the next guy, but it's gonna happen.

Why did Nebraska lose to Texas? Callahan's coaching?

Why did Nebraska lose to OSU? Cosgrove couldn't make open field tackles?

Ya'll need to relax and let this program take it's course. We'll win the North and stand a good chance of beating Texas in KC. Who we get in a bowl game is anybody's guess.

And listen to the rest of these guys in this thread. A 9-3 team was a norm for NU during the mid-late 70's. Heck I remember exactly where I was in '78 when I listened to us lose to Missouri.

Buncha spoiled sour-pusses from the 90's ya are.
With success comes expectations with increased expectations comes bigger success, its the circle of life here at Nebraska we want Newyears Day BOWL games not meineke and Alamo, the facilties, boosters and fans deserve better and the kids who play for NU deserve better.

Tom Osborne was a great motivator, you will die for somebody you love, you will play well for somebody you fear......., Callahan needs to light a fire........period, this team does'nt need excuses it NEEDS TO BE INSPIRED...........and for defense Mcbride would have never tolerated that type of performance, Callahan is a smart guy and I hope he see's this and I hope the seniors see this...........there was a time where no team in the land would want to play the corn......especially on homecoming...........Callahan needs to brainstorm and inspire these kids.........don't talk to me about talent it is about heart and this team lacked that against the cowpokes.........

Yeah, and I remember a time when people got sick of tollerating this:

1993 Orange Florida State L 16-18

1992 Orange Florida State L 14-27

1991 Orange Miami FL L 0-22

1990 Citrus Georgia Tech L 21-45

1989 Fiesta Florida State L 17-41

1988 Orange Miami FL L 3-23

1987 Fiesta Florida State L 28-31

Losing in the NC CHAMIONSHIP game vs. losing to a middle of the road south team hmmmmmmm

you just proved my point the bar cannot be lowered , the standard has to be maintained or we will become a ksu, isu, fizzou like program............I'll take a loss to the best or one of the best in the country, but okie state ...........come on............have the husker faithful fallen this far..............??????????

and for defense Mcbride would have never tolerated that type of performance,

Come one now don't act like McBride didn't coach a bunch of stinker games as well as seasons. He got bailed out a lot by having the offenses that those teams did. The 83 defense might have been the worst to ever play here but that offense just happened to score crap loads of points. People wanted McBride gone before 1993. That is a fact. I know we have a lot of people around here that don't remember the 80's but McBride's defenses we pretty average to below average. It also helped that we played in the Big Eight and every team but Nebraska and OU(Colorado in the late 80's) stunk. You can say the teams in the Big 12 aren't very good but they are light years better then the crappy teams from the Big Eight. Charlie was great but it wasn't until he changed his scheme(1992) and the talent level went way up that he became great.

Just my view on things.

I am talkin about being tolerated not ever having one?????????...........Being inspired I didn't see it vs. the pokes........I agree its unrealistic to say win every game, but i want to see some inspired play, giving it everything even when your on the road can you say you saw that???????.........in college ball every game is a playoff game, home or away and our guys seem to have a problem getting up for games away from Lincoln.

I see what you're saying.

I just think a lot of people around here either forget or weren't around to remember how much CRAP McBride got blamed for until 1993. Everything people say about Cosgrove's teams is the exact same thing they were saying about McBride's teams. For the record I don't think Cosgrove tolerates the effort that was put out yesterday. Just like I don't think McBride tolerated the defensive efforts that his average or below average units used to put out. I believe me there were plenty of those through the 80's.

Someone said in another thread "why does everyone play us like its their national championship game" Well maybe BR as a whole should use the same motivation and look at every game in the same light and even if they lose at least we will know it was all left out on the field and all this bitchin and moaning will stop.

I think a lot of our sorrows has to do with the piss poor effort we have seen way to often in the last decade. IMHO

I remember many games where McBride's defense looked lost and tanked games. So I throw the BS flag on the McBride thing!

I'll take your flag and stick in ur azz..................from my memory I have never seen a husker defense or team take a loss so nonchalantly as this one.........there is this "NFL" mentality in regards to playing like poo, like there is always next week, next year, next decade..............carpei crystal football............
