Oh brother!!!!!!!!!! Look, NU has NO shot at beating Texas. Texas is NOT Troy. Geeeeez! Look at the key stats - we cannot win against any team that doesn't stink! How we gonna beat a team that is ranked? When was the last time we beat a top ten team? We aren't even in that class - we aren't even ranked anymore - we need to quit acting like the rest of the losers in the Big 12 - we're NU for God's sakes! Fans here say "We played great in all those losses, so we are just as good as those real good teams - they're no better than us!" ...........Except they are ranked and can win important games against real competition, and not just the loser teams they trounce.

I really had hoped we would seek more than incremental and cahracter-building "gains" from all these losses. We suck! We won't return to prominence until we beat tough teams, and that ain't gonna happen with this bunch.

We had our chance, but sucked against the tough teams - I don't think we get any love for "almost" winning -"almost" is for losers......

f#*k that :steam , he can fly his "WE SUCK" flag if he wants. But I want to see him fly it when we are winning. Don't come on here after a couple of losses and start throwing sh#t like this around. how long have you been lurking on the board and waiting to finally come out of the closet .

Everyone has an opinion and a right to express it. I just want you to try and get over the fact that this team is still rebuilding. Yes we lost to the last two national champions and a okie st team that we have owned for years. If you want to see a team that its fans should be saying WE SUCK look at colorado.

goals should be attainable, kind of like this

1. Win the North division (if you dont you cant do this)

2. Win the Big 12 Championship (if you dont you probably wont get this)

3. Go to a BCS bowl (if you dont win you cant get this)

4. Win National Championship

is the season going to be a failure if NU fails to achieve all 4 goals?

I apologize for saying I would stick the flag in his azz, I would stick it in his buttocks........but my post rings true..........not very pleasant with the red koolaid, but true. I am as diehard corn as anyone........and sometimes it gets the best of me ..............I LOVE THE CORN.........GBR!

Yeah it is rediculous!!!! I used to love it when KSUcks fans would come on here and sCUm fans also!!! They would come to the woodshed with their weak crap and get owned!!! Now we have a definate split of the fan base in Big Red Country and it really pisses me off!!!! :steam

Not according to Callahan. He made it clear the goal this year was to get back to the Big 12 Championship Game. Not win it mind you...just get back to the game. As far as fans go, this might be a bit of an underachievment given our history of domination. As far as Caly goes, his goal will have been met.

 
Let me say this much- Callahan has one or two years left on my watch before I REALLY get critical. Our offense, which is loaded with Callahan players, has been doing great this year.

Our defense, which is still clodded up with Solich players, has sucked. Flat out sucked. Our front four are pretty good but our linebackers and our defensive backs suck because the talent is just not there. Bradley and McKeon are great and all, but they just are not fast enough. At this point, no one really knows what Grixby is doing on the field.

In one or two years if we're still losing routinely to mediocre teams, then I'll begin questioning Callahan. No, the Huskers are not GREAT yet. The Huskers can't be GREAT every single year, and we never were. We were always good, with a few years of great sprinkled in there- I think Pederson sometimes forgets this. Wait until we get all Callahan players on both sides of the ball, then take a look at where we are. Callahan makes mistakes for sure, despite what 99% of the people on this board seem to think. Yes, he called a sh**ty game against USC. Their offense isn't actually that potent and other teams have beat them or come close to beating them through the air. BUT he called a great game against Texas, and we were one Terrance Nunn fumble away from him being declared the second coming of Jesus.

Basically, just wait another year or two and we should be solid- if not, then question whether Callahan should be coach. In any case, we are WAY better off with him instead of Solich.

 
I don't think Callahan is a bad coach. Offensively we're doing good. It's the defense that worries the hell out of me at this point. For whatever reason there's a huge drop off in efficiency between last year and this year. Injuries and attrition will do that I guess. This year has been a total flip flop from last year. Last year we struggled offensively but the defense kept us in the game. This year, the offense has kept us in the game but the defense is struggling. Eventually somethings going to give and this year it's the offense not being able to put the points to bail the defense out.

I'll give Callahan a couple more years to see how things work out but Cosgrove is wearing extremely thin on my patience

 
The only problem with Callahan is that one he get's passed the scripted plays it's a crapshoot. If there was ever a time to stick with the running game it was Saturday. He admitted that he got caught up in the passing game and I'm sorry but I would have been happy to sit back and watch us run the ball 60 times.

 
remember after the scripted plays, doesnt the offensive coordinator call the plays from the press box? or does norvell give a couple of choices and calli decides?

That's the one thing about him I haven't figured out yet. When you think we shoud be passing the ball, he's running it (USC game). When you think we should be running the ball, he's passing it (OSU game). It's frustrating.
