Akron Week Pressers

Well the reverse was 1st and 10 and he got heal depth and ran down the line like he's probably supposed to and it's a trick play so I'll cut him some slack on that one. I only recall him being in for one other play which was also a run. I'll have to go back to the film.
I'm also just going off of memory from watching live, so I could be wrong.

Somebody is always responsible for a bootleg or reverse, and being the end man on the line of scrimmage away from the action would make that McGahee in every scenario I'm aware of. Trick plays are allowed and reverses are not particularly tricky, so I don't think any slack is deserved. His very next play (the Sorsby TD run) was also not great, he was the unblocked guy - they did bluff a block at him - and he didn't get particularly close to stopping Sorsby.

He only played like 9 snaps by my count, so it's tough to make a huge impact. But he had one very bad missed assignment, another play where he was the guy in position to make the stop and didn't, and nothing of note to my eyes on the other plays.

you may be right as well. I probably worded my statement wrong. I meant from his time on the field last year. I wasn't too impressed last year when he was on the field for run plays. Which was the same problem James Williams had. He just seemed to have a knack for getting to or very close to the QB.

I agree but it from memory it wasn't really a traditional reverse that takes a while to develop. QB and RB took off to the right like they were running options. There was a wing/slot that ran along the line of scrimmage behind the O-line. McGahee followed that guy down the line. The reverse guy didn't get the ball until The QB was almost to the other sideline. He could have played better against the run. As I told @RedDenver I worded my statement poorly.
